    JTS Security

Did anyone else feel like the security was "flexing their muscle" a bit more than normal last night? I heard they took the guy's horn from SE corner of the stadium, a buddy of mine was told "to get out of the "firelane", and we had some guys in our section get lectured for yelling at the other team and they have never done that before.

Maybe it was just me, but my own experience and from what I heard from other people in our group, it just seems like something changed from last year...

The very first thing I noticed last night was that Per Mar had been replaced by some new company. CSC Security or something like that.

    Re: JTS Security

They should have made some kind annoucement ahead of time about the no umbrella policy. I didn't have one, but I felt bad for the people learning that they have to leave their umbrellas as they are just coming into the gate.

    Re: JTS Security

They had this guy walking up and down the one staircase I next to in the student section all night. It made me feel really uncomfortable. He would first look down the isle and then look right at my face.... Dude you wanna come back in like 10 mins, I should be really drunk on the 15 cans of beer I hid in my pants at that point.

    Re: JTS Security

Could some of this be with the violence in other venues? (mainly pro)

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

The umbrella thing is normal for sporting events as it obstructs the view of others. I think that should be a no brainer. The change in security should have been something communicated to season tickets holders - at a minimum they could have added it to the letter with season tickets.

I'm guessing that most of the members of the security team I saw last night will be consulting a physician today since their erection lasted the entire evening...

    Re: JTS Security

They did change security companies and yes it was quite beefed up. I talked to someone who had a pass to get into the Jacobson building and they said that in the past they could get in showing their pass once, last night at least five times.

I believe CSC is the same company that has security at wells fargo and from my time follwing Linn-Mar at the state bball tourneys...they aren't the nicest people in the world.

Someone may want to email jp and complain about how some were treated.

    Re: JTS Security

There is always a pro and con to this. While I cannot comment on the situation inside.

However, yesterday I needed to try and find a courtesy cart cart to help my parents get from the South side of JT to the north side (outside of the stadium).

I walked up to one the new security staff at the south gate and asked if htey could help.

They had a cart there in 10 minutes and were as professional and helpful as I have ever seen. They made PerMar look like amateur hour.

    Re: JTS Security

I noticed that there was more security around the student section. However, I wouldn't say that they upped the security much though. (we all still got our beers in)

    Re: JTS Security

I heard someone saying they changed the policy on water bottles. Before you could bring one in if it was unopened, this time they were not allowed.

The scanning system was a mess last night too. Just one giant cluster at the south gate.

I left fairly early hoping to catch the band's pregame, and missed the first half of it.

Yes, I had two unopened bottles of water that I had to throw in the trash. I believe if they were empty I could have brought them in and filled them up inside.

    Smile Umbrellas at FB Games?

I know my season ticket information specifically mentioned what fans couldn't bring into JT and umbrellas was on the list.

Beside that, its pretty common knowledge that you don't bring an umbrella to a FB game. IMO a fan would have to be pretty rude/clueless to think their keeping dry is more important than the fan behind them not seeing the game or getting their eye poked out by a metal spine.

I did notice security was tighter, but IMO that is a good thing. The previous company was a joke- it looked like they bused workers in from Wesley Retirement Home

I was pretty concerned when we walked up to the South gate from the East, but when we realized that you could just walk around the crowd and go in the South gates on the west side of the gate, it took us less that 60 seconds to get in while the crowd on the East side of that gate was about 200 people deep.
