And it's all very strange when you think about it. Who is all this money for that drives this greed? These teams have no owners or shareholders and there's no players to pay. Near as I can tell, this greed is to make sure the jumbotron is big enough, the practice facility is luxurious enough, and every locker room has enough playstations.

What's sadder is this whole mentality has been finding its way into the HS ranks as well. You see the HS games starting to show on ESPN, you see the first HS team in Texas getting Nike pro combat uniforms.

The whole sporting world is ruined to be honest. About the only thing a person can do is quit watching MBB & FB and pick up a sport like VB or wrestling. Those are the only places you will find the pureness of what amateur athletics should be.

This explains some of it to a degree...this article was written just before the current events started to unfold...

This was sad to read. I think we all knew that college football wasn't perfect, but we could trick ourselves into thinking that it was pure. Unfortunately, that's been getting much harder to do.

I doubt we ever go to a non AQ league, if we did though I could deal with CUSA somewhat. Join the other 2 and I will never buy tickets again.

You do realize this is the main reason why the Hawk fans on Hawkeyenation are cheering for ISU's demise, don't you? Even though they supposedly don't care about Little Brother, they believe Iowa will get all of their fans and athletes.

KSU grads don't nail much in life, but this was spot on. I kind of think he came to the point by accident, but the root of the issue is correct.

Re: Many probably feel the same way

That KSU fan has it right on the money.

College sports have had something special that they're apparently willing to throw away so a handful of schools that don't need the money can have a little bit more.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

Isn't the reason we have the Mountain West consference now becaus the WAC was a 16 team league and it was considered to big of a conference? Isn't there a saying that if we don't learn from history were doomed to repeat it?

I sort of feel this way too, but I want to be there to help Iowa State through the tough times. I'll be done with march madness, bowl season, etc, much like I was done with baseball. It sucks have a lifetime of tradition and history ripped out.

I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story.
