    Visiting Kennedy Space Center

Has anyone been there? Is it worth the $40 a person?

What does the $40 get you? I was there in 2005 on a family vacation so I didn't pay attention to the prices.

I think pretty much everything except the guided tours. What did you do while there?

We were there earlier this year and really enjoyed it. The ticket is good for two days and you could easily spend two days there. The ticket also gets you into Astronaut Museam down the road.

We did a tour around the facility, including taking a bus to some of the launch pads and the landing strip. We also got to see the launch control room. I'm not sure what else...it all runs together now. I definitely enjoyed the day we spent there, though.

    Re: Visiting Kennedy Space Center

I was just there with my son in early June...got to see Atlantis on the launch pad before the final flight in July. It is costly, but we thought it was well worth it. The price gets you a regular bus tour out to the launch pad viewing area (not sure what will be there to see right now) and it makes two stops, the second stop is pretty cool as you get see the Apollo/Saturn 5 Center.. All of the Imax films are included with your admission, essentially everything at the KSC main complex is included with your admission and if you are at all interested in space it is very cool.

Another thing I didn't realize is that your admission actually gets you two days of admission... so keep your ticket and on the 2nd day you can just go in scan your ticket at the tunstile and head on in.

The only thing that is really not included in the regular admission is the red carpet tour which gets you closer to the launch pads and you can pay to eat lunch with an astronaut.

We spent 6 hours there the first day and 3 hours there the 2nd day.

One more thing that we didn't get to do is your ticket also gets you into the astronaut museum which is between KSC and Titusville, just a few miles away, which by itself costs like $18 to get in...has a full size shuttle you can tour outside.

It was the highlight of our trip....If you have time there is a small space museum downtown in Titusville that is free and has some cool stuff...the guy who owns it worked at Cape Canaveral for many years, CNN was there interviewing him while we were there. They gave my son some shuttle coins for free as well... kinda cool.

Let me know if you need any more info!

Thanks everyone. We're only going to have one day available but sounds like it will be worth it.

Definitely worth it. One of my favorite places we visited down in Florida in '07. The museum is also awesome.

It's fun. I wish you got to see more of the "real" facilities though..

    Re: Visiting Kennedy Space Center

I Lived in Orlando for 3 years and we visited the space center about 8 times with an annual pass while we were there (we took friends when they were visiting pretty frequently). It is definitely a good time, I would rate it right up there with universal studios and disney in terms of the best ways to spend a day in/around orlando.

We just got back from visiting there about two weeks ago. I thought it was pretty neat, although my girlfriend wasn't really that interested. They also have some sort of Star Trek exhibit there right now.

I've never been there but that stuff is really interesting, would definitely be worth $40 for me.
