    Scoreboard

I know the buzz has been around Steele and him being our starting QB, which it should, but I was wondering if anyone who was at the scrimmage last night could shed light on how the new scoreboard looked, sounded, or anything along those lines. It was being used correct??

Im really pumped to see it in action.

    Re: Scoreboard

It was on and working in all it's hi-def glory. Really looked good. The screen has two modes, one where the video in the middle is smaller with advertising on both sides and the score/game info across the bottom. Then there is what I'll call full screen or wide screen where they can show replays, crowd, etc without the ads and score info showing. The full screen image showing replays and action on the field was the most impressive to me. They already had the score/game info portion programmed for the UNI game with their logo over the visitor score portion. It all looks and sounds really good. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the sound of the siren when touchdowns were scored, seemed a little slow and not as loud as it could have been.
All in all it's very impressive.

    Re: Scoreboard

The new scoreboard and sound system is awesome!!!

At times you will think you are in your living room watching your own HDTV. Usually the screen was in narrow view and had advertisements on the left and right borders.

When they took the ad's away and had the game in wide view it was amazing. On several occasions I was watching the game on the screen instead of watching the on field action.

The sound system is great too, at the start of the scrimmage it was too loud, but there was no distortion.

    Re: Scoreboard

I'm sure it looks bright on overcast days and at night, but the images posted on here at full midday sun are concerning. What was wrong with the siren? Was it an actual siren or played over the speaker system (or could you tell?)

Not possible at a football game.

It won't be too loud once another 50,000 people are in the stadium making noise.

You would be surprised...it can get real loud. When it started playing, I'm pretty sure everyone in the stadium got this **** eating grin on their face. I think the sound itself will exceed every ones scoreboard expectations.

One of the members here, scottie33, talked with one of the construction workers/sound people and said each side has 9 speaker boxes, 5 feet tall, and can be heard all the way to Nevada.

    Re: Scoreboard

The only problem I saw, and this doesn't have anything to do with the scoreboard per se, but there won't be enough time to show replays on this beautiful new scoreboard with the tempo of this year's offense.

I think they should use the two boards in tandem. Like a video of Steele talking on the big one followed by Aaron Horne replying to his qb. That would be cool. Or CPR on the big one talking to John Walters on the other one. With two boards you could do all sorts of thiungs.
