Any concerns at WR right now?

Remember... Blanton has left the team, Jennert has been ruled ineligible, and Money has a broken toe.

On top of that, Herman said that Darks didn't scrimmage yesterday, Jarvis West has a banged up wrist, and Aaron Horne is dinged up too.

Are we going to be ok at WR going into the season? I imagine that Darks, West, and Horne are ok and are just being held out for precautionary reasons, but we've definately been somewhat depleted.

I think Bundrage plays this year for sure now.

Darks, Lenz, Horne, and West are the guys that should be good, barring injury. Hopefully the toe doesn't hold Money back too much. It would be nice if we had one or two more guys for sure, but hopefully the TE's and RB's can supplement the air game.

In all honesty, there are several areas of concern for this team. Lots of teams are in the same boat.

Blanton wasn't going to play, Jennert might have played, and Money will be okay. No worries.

i was looking forward to jennert getting some pt this year. there is just something weird about tall skinny white dudes at WR that intrigues me. they just look out of place out there, but i like it. wish we still had todd blythe.

really a shame that athletes get the amount of FREE academic support that they do and they still can't manage a C average. sad and pathetic.

I know I am worried about it. It was a weak area last year. Our best receiver graduated last year and we have a tight end trying to get an NFL job right now. We have a lot of injuries to what is a thin bunch anyway and not an influx of talent there. Yes, that worries me.

I think Hammerschmidt will be just fine. Not quite Collin Franklin, but I think he's kind of the same mold.

Agreed. We should be just fine. And if there are questions about QB - WR chemisty... Jantz already has great chem with Horne, and Im sure he does also by now with Lenz, Money and Darks...we should be just fine....KNOCK ON WOOD.

My question is: where the hell is Albert Gary in all this? I thought he was supposed to impress this year.

i think losing jennert will hurt more than we realize. outside of our starters, our receivers are (for lack of a better word) small.

    starters:
    Money-6'2" 208
    Darks-6'1" 189
    Lenz-6'0" 197
    horne-5'9" 175

    Depth:
    young 5'11"-197
    gary 5'10"-196
    west 5'7"-164

donnie was our only "big" receiver for depth, he was the only returning letterwinner who isn't already a starter. he could have had a decent role this season. what a shame.

hopefully with the loss of jennert, some of these guys (like gary) realize there is a spot for them that they can grab by the horns and step up. perhaps they will have a "holy s*!t moment and realize they they will be called upon and will push harder to be ready.

I always thought ISU should adopt a power running offense similar to Wisconsin. I think McCarney ran it at first. It would be a unique offense relative to other teams in the Big12, it's easier to recruit for that style of offense, and its a better offense for the upper midwest climate, especially late in the season.
