Too early to tell. All we've got to go on are the words of a criminal who made millions of dollars by lying to people. Certainly some of his story is probably true, but how much?

Re: does miami deserve the death penalty?

they need to find a way to punish the students that do this. Otherwise the students are going to continue to take illegal benefits. If they knew that it could hurt their chances of playing professionally then it would at least make them think twice.

And don't give me any "if they were paid by the University" bs. Boosters would still take them out, give them money and try to make them their friends. Gettiing $500/month isn't going to change that at all, except for the fact that it will put some programs out of business but that is another discussion.

Need to know more about what's happened before you can make a decision.

But I voted for no, it's all about the U.

This. If Terelle Pryor can be suspended by the NFL for actions during college why not extend the statute of limitations on these types of NCAA-illegal activities as well? Why not allow the NFL to suspend Wilfork without pay this far into his career if it's proven he was heavily involved in this mess?

Do they deserve it? Yes. Will they get it? No because they will do a self imposed penalty much less severe and the NCAA will let it be.

Did anyone else see the interview of Antrel Rolle? That just ****** me off. You could tell he probably made a killing from that booster and he doesn't give two ***** now. He's in the pros and it doesn't matter to him one bit. I hope they don't give him the death penalty, but they need to make an extreme example out of the kids receiving these benefits that are currently on the team. No reason to take away the bowl chances of the kids on the team that are following the rules

They might deserve it, but won't get it. I think the NCAA probably regrets being as heavy handed with SMU, and they were more systemic.

Totally agree. The NCAA doesn't have the cojones to give Miami the death penalty.

i think if that mmany coaches knew about what was going on. I would say yes. I am a Miami fan and still think that what they did was way over the top.

Re: does miami deserve the death penalty?

I want to know what kind of person does something like this. I don't think this would lead to a reduced sentence. Also, when he gets out he is probably banned from life from the U if these allegations turn out to be true. The only thing I can come up with is that he just wants the attention.

Re: does miami deserve the death penalty?

It deserves due process first. All we have now is a little 5-foot-nothing con artist getting revenge. Typical non-athlete living vicariously through athletes because he had a bunch of money to give (although it wasn't actually his money). I love the video clip of him acting like a giddy child because he got to retrieve the kickoff tee.

Probably some truth to the allegations, but nothing he says can be taken at face value.

Bingo. The NCAA really needs to approach the NFL on this. If the NFL took a stance on this stating that any college football player found to have received impermissable benefits will be ineligible to play in the NFL for 2 years following their college graduation year. Basically if a freshman gets busted taking money he can't be eligible for the NFL draft for 5 years.... his 3 years left in college and then the 2 year penalty in addition from the NFL. You make rules that seriously put a kids NFL opportunity at risk... you put a serious clamp on this dirty crap going on. Is a car, a couple thousand dollars, a prostitute, some free alcohol, etc... worth risking a potential future income of millions of dollars in the NFL?

Nobody takes penalties seriously anymore. It's time to bring it back.
