IF Tiller is listed as 3rd string QB.

Is he likely to change positions, transfer or just stay where he is?

I bet someone will say WR, which I think is a terrible idea. His athleticism is severly overrated. He's fast, but not very quick, and not very coordinated. Two things that are very important for a WR. I'd rather have him stay at 3rd qb incase Jantz and Barnett get hurt, we should not burn Richardson's redshirt.

Isnt he kind of a long strider? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I hope he stays, but it's probably unlikely. We do need 3 QBs. I hope AA expands on this, but I believe last year for UNI both QBs were hurt to the point that they could of sat if we had a 3rd QB that could go. AA didn't play in that game and Tiller played extremely hurt. The amount we ask our QBs to rush in this offense, we could easily need a 3rd at some point.

Agree but since he is entering his JR year I wonder if he would consider a very last minute transfer.

Didnt he say he wanted to know who the starting QB would be as soon as possible a while back or something like that?

Even if on Saturday he is the 3rd string on the depth chart, it doesnt mean he wont start a lot of games this season.

It's not like Tiller is kicked off the team or has his throwing arm chopped off if he's moved to receiver.

I'll bet you it does. If he's 3rd string, he can probably kiss playing QB at Iowa State good bye.

Re: IF Tiller is listed as 3rd string QB.

If Barnett passes Tiller I would be more concerned about Barnett taking over the starters job than where Tiller would play. The coaches praised Barnett last season about how quickly he picked up the offense and now this season he's in the hunt for the starters job. If he's in the discussion for the top spot, may as well have him start and get that game experience and make sure he's our QB for the future.

Do we really think he is going to come out of camp at 3? I guess we will find out this weekend. ISU can use all the depth it can find, and my guess is his experience at a minimum earns him a two spot. That doesn't mean he would be the starter if the starter goes down long term but he would be your guy to come of the bench during a game.

Why would we start our no. 2 QB because he is younger only to bench a junior that could give us 2 years of starting time. You would literally be telling the No. 1, you are better, but we are going with the guy who could help us in the future. We want to win later, not now, later.

The fact that nobody came out of the spring as the #1 QB doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence that we have a guy that can win now. Barnett is a redshirt freshman that is still in the discussion for the starters job - why not let him get the reps now and build a 4-year starter out of him?

If a guy who has been the solid #2 QB for 2 years (and started a number of games) drops behind 2 guys who have never taken a snap for ISU before the season even begins, it certainly is a striking commentary on the level of our QB talent and depth for the last few years.

That might have something to do with one of the people in the running just having started at Iowa State? You play to win now. If he doesn't get any better or gets passed up over the next couple years, you threw away a season or two for no reason. Best guy should be on the field. Period.
