    Caspers to DL?

Did anyone see that he is working with DL's now, based on this I would say Simon will not be joining us.... Any other thoughts?

The good thing is we have options, moving people around will make our team more versitle. Obviously there is a learning curve but these guys have been around the game long enough, they study both sides of the ball.

Could be a Tuba type situation, I believe when we recruited him it was up in the air where he would play even though he was recruited as a OT....

    Re: Caspers to DL?

I guess a negative view to take from this would be that Burnham may not think that Jensen and Woods are ready....

I don't think this change could have been made with the thought of Pompey and Simon coming to campus in the fall problems unforeseen have caused otherwise.

I don't know about Woods, but I am 110% confident Jensen is not ready. He needs another year or two to touch the field.

I'm pretty sure Pompey is here, isn't he? He's just injured/was injured previously and is still out of shape from that time?

I've heard from a member of the staff that there is less than a 5% chance that Simon ever gets here.

Even if the only thing Caspers can provide is a physically mature body that will be a bonus to the team. If he can just plug up the line a little when he's in there it could help.

I don't think we are in any hurry to rush him back, we don't want him to get frustrated. From Shane B interview he already has the stature of Dutch as a true freshmen, after knee surgery, I would love to see him slowly work his way back during his RS season....

Figures. If ISU ever has any semblance of D-Line "depth" it's always too good to be true.

    Re: Caspers to DL?

If I recall correctly Jon did play DL at Juco. He moved to OL and the main reason he RS last year was because he wanted to so he could get more comfortable at that position.

I think I remember Bill Bleil raving about athletic Caspers is. I could be wrong there though. Hopefully it works out.

    Re: Caspers to DL?

I was actually surprised by Jensen in the spring game, he had a decent game and I was hoping he'd provide some depth. Maybe he's not having such a great fall.

I personally think he has some growing to do yet, listed at 271, it is not horribly undersized but I think to play D1 BCS ball at that size you have to be overly strong and as a RS Fresh I don't ink he is quit there, I am sure he has improved since last year, but still has some to go.....
