It sure feels like that is where this all belongs sometimes. I wish it was all sorted out, so I could actually get something done besides hitting the refresh button! I like the way you are thinking Chris.

Re: Williams: As the Big 12 turns

Although most may disagree, a ND move to the Big 12 to make a 10th team seems possible.

But if I was the ND AD, I might wait a few years to make the Big 12 show me it is stable. Either that or create a massive exit fee to ensure stability.

What can the Big 12 offer that others can't? A private network and a lack of championship game.

If ND to the Big East was going to happen, it would've by now.

I place the odds on ND to the Big 12 at 20%.

I can see ND & Texas forming their own conference before ND joins the Big 12

Re: Williams: As the Big 12 turns

I think Texas would be Goldberg and Notre Dame would be Hollywood Hogan. Notre Dame hasn't been relevant for awhile in terms of success but still are one of most popular brands in the sport, much like Hogan back in 98.

Re: Williams: As the Big 12 turns

pretty well sums up my thoughts, but if the Big 12 is attractive to teams like ND, then it should be attractive to A&M. Hopefully cooler heads preval and we can keep A&M, add ND and BYU and stay in a power position in this whole thing, ND and Texas collectively would have the power to influence the whole superconference fad. This can not be underestimated and I can't see how either benefit from a superconference so perhaps this marriage is closer than one might think

Re: Williams: As the Big 12 turns

It would definitely help if the big 12 could grab both BYU and Notre Dame. You could add one other lower team and it would be a pretty strong, nation wide conference.

That is not the point though, the idea would be that if Notre Dame and Texas wanted to be in this conference together it would be as stable as any other conference around. You would have two nationally known publicity powerhouses working together that could keep a conference going as long as they wanted too...

Yes, teams like us would still be at the mercy of the higher powers, but with the kind of cash flow that would be bringing in I'm sure we would all survive just fine.

With who though? Boomer's suggestion had them pulling from all the service academies, the ACC, the Big East, and the Big 12 to create a conference from Florida to the Northest, to Texas, to the mountain west.

I can't imagine Notre Dame wants to create a conference just to send their non-revenue sports all over the country. The Big 12 makes geographical sense which seems like it ought to be worth something even though most deny that.

Plus, I still don't understand why you would want to pull in other powerhouse football schools if you already have Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and other decent hitters in the same conference. Why put all the toughest teams in the same conference to beat up on each other when you can ensure you'll remain a big boy in your own conference.
