Are Cyclones as bad as the Aggies?

Does our hatred for Iowa run as deep as the Aggies for Texas?

College Station overtaken with SEC mania - Big 12 Blog - ESPN

We definitely tend to have a lot negative logos/images about Iowa.

It's not even close. A&M's fight song is entirely about Texas. They are leaving a pretty good gig in the Big 12 to get their brains bashed in in the SEC solely because of their hatred of Texas.

ISU's administration would NEVER sacrifice an opportunity to improve the programs just to flip Iowa the bird.

That was going to be my 3rd point. We'd rather be in the same conference with your rival than away from them.

How dare you even think that it is even close enough for comparison! Sure, they may be a few fans that would take it that far, but by and large the fan base isn't even close to being as delusional and as negligent as that fan base appears to be when comparing themselves to Texas.

I don't like Iowa, but I wouldn't want to see their team crumble. Maybe take a step behind us but thats only logical.

If you ask the basketball analysts outside the state of Iowa I think you would be surprised to hear their responses. Iowa was pegged as a preseason top 5 team by one ESPN analyst and is ranked in the vast, vast majority of preseason top 25 polls

We would also never jeopardize our conference to stick it to another conference member.

It's true that UT has acted with their self interest in mind but the other conference members (including CU, NU and aTm) have always had the power as a group to curb UT's greed. There was never a time that eleven AD's couldn't get together and tell UT, "If your independence will be a constant threat than you should go now and we will replace you."

What has happened is that CU (a perpetual Pac 10 wannabe) saw an opportunity to jump ship. MU (a perpetual Big Ten wannabe) started petitioning the Big Ten. NU got tired of not being in a league they could dominate and jumped ship. And finally, since aTm can't beat UT on the court, on the field, in the pool, in the classroom or in the sorority house they found a way to finally after all these years stick it to them... except UT will get the last laugh and the innocent bystanders (KSU, ISU and BU) will be the one's that face uncertainty.

The way these defector's have acted is embarrassing and takes no balls.

Re: Are Cyclones as bad as the Aggies?

I lived in TX for six years and experienced the rivalry first-hand. Our rivalry is not even close to that of TX and TAM. I know a lot of ISU fans who will root for the Hawkeyes when they are not playing each other. They think it's good for the state and the rivalry if both schools are competitive. That wouldn't fly in TX. It's not just a rivalry. It's more like the Hatfields and McCoy, in more ways than one. Neither side would be happy until the other side is wiped out.
This whole thing is a shame. Generally speaking, UT fans are obnoxious stuck-up p****s. A&M fans are the nicest people you've ever met. Now I'm going to have to root for A&M to lose in the SEC the way I'll root for kNU to lose in the Big 10.

I would venture to guess most Hawks don't feel that way. They would be tickled pink if we were in the WAC.

Obviously you have more experience than I, but when I was in Austin last year the Texas were every bit as hospitable and nice as the Aggie fans when I went to College Station in '09. Both were great. The Aggies told us what big of ****** Texas fans would be, and it wasn't the case at all. Even after the game they were congratulating us for kicking their *****. It wasn't at all like I was expecting.

Where I work, there are just as many Aggie alums as there are UT alums (if not more), and I have to say that they both seem to be about equally arrogant, snobbish, and stuck-up, just in slightly different ways. UT fans will brag about their money and their bling, and Aggie fans will brag about their creepy traditions.

I don't like Iowa either. But I do want to see their team crumble. If they became totally irrelevant to college sports I would be a happy camper.

My experience as well. Very classy folks in College Station, especially compared to Longhorn fans.
