What Does Everyone Think of the Point Spread?

Currently Iowa is -17.5. I have to say that if I were forced to make a bet, I would probably take Iowa even at that spread.

Re: What Does Everyone Think of the Point Spread?

I would have to say it's fair given the circumstances. I think if we could get our passing game going at all, we'd have a very legit chance of having a high scoring. If we can stop the running game, we'd really have a chance. I'm just affraid they're going to rack up 300 yards on the run. We have the talent to dominate the air on offense but it's questionable if Meyer can get out of his 13 month comma in time.

Why do you think we're going to score points in bunches?
I think this will be the best defense we've faced so far, and we've haven't exactly been lighting up the scoreboard.

Scary as it is, I think that is way low, I would say more like 22 - 24.

Looks like Gene has his work cut out this year if Iowa is 17 point favorite at our stadium. How did this happen?

Re: What Does Everyone Think of the Point Spread?

I don't, I just didn't explain that very well. I think if we were playing to our strengths and playing well, we could have an awesome passing game because of the somewhat weak passing defense of the Hawks. Since we aren't playing worth a darn, that's a mute point.

My prediction; Iowa runs for 250 yards, passes for 200. ISU runs for 95 yards and passes for 175. Iowa wins 34-14.

Re: What Does Everyone Think of the Point Spread?

The one side of me tells me that Iowa has met or beat the spread on this game once in the last 10 years. That tells me to take ISU.

But I have been to the last two games where as Jeremy put it so well Meyer has been in a "13 month coma". That tells me to take EIU and stay home.

I take ISU to beat the spread..

    Iowa 23 ISU 14

Re: What Does Everyone Think of the Point Spread?

I think that Mac had a big influence on this game when he was coach, getting the players very motivated. Doubt that Gene will do so much to pump up the players for this game . . . and I somehow doubt the seniors are going to put the effort in to get the rest of the team primed for the game.

When is the last time Iowa covered???? ISU always covers in this game. Take the points, bet the house (especially if you have a subprime loan).

Damn, that's a BIG punctuation mark!

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

He clearly hasn't seen us play then. How are we supposed to score 20?

Re: What Does Everyone Think of the Point Spread?

ISU 9-1 ATS in the last 10 games against the Hawks. I've made a lot of money betting on the Clones in this game during that time.

I wouldn't touch this one though.
