    BYU wont give up their ESPN deal, right?

    Dont they have that ESPN deal for their football team and why would they give that up and join in this conference or any conference for that matter...

    I agree with this, I'm not sure it's a given BYU would join. I have no knowledge one way or the other, but I have to think they considered this possibility of joining a major conference when they went independent. Our perceived instability could make them uneasy.

    The answer is money. Although no details were released the salt lake trib estimates BYU will get between 800,000 and a million per game. If every game were on the flagship, they would still make more than 12 million in big 12.

    the big 12 should be appealing to them. theyd have a much better chance to make a BCS game (easier than being independent anyway). theyd also be able to keep their TV deal which isnt an option in many other major conferences

    BYU needs to join. Think of the ratings bonanza the epic battle between Baptist and Mormons will create! It's an ESPN wet dream and I'm sure they will pay gazzilions to the conference to pimp the game. "Special undergarments versus immersion in water, see it this Saturday on ESPN with commentary by Craig James, voted best dad in the Big 12 conference".
