I like the press for Allen, but he is one of 4 players in that top 10 that haven't played a game in the Big 12 conference. Where's the top 10 of returning players that have showed that they can actually perform in the conference?

It's nice to know there's still something to be excited about just in case the football team falters. For what it's worth, I don't think that'll be the case. I expect the football and b-ball programs to exceed national expectations. It's gonna be a fun year!

Don't get me wrong but I sense a little "if he was good enough for a Big 10 team then he will be great for the Big 12" bias. I do believe he is good/great but I'm also hoping that White, Babb, Sledge, etc. make it real hard for him to standout.

That is awesome! However I still do not see how incoming freshmen are better than a 5th year senior who has been to the final 4? Who has been coached by Tom Izzo, and has sat out a year to only get better due to transfer rules. From what I hear he does everything and whenever the team needs a basket he is impossible to stop. Can not wait to see him play this year and be on the Big 12 first team

chris allen has played in 14 ncaa tourney games, including two final fours. its not a b10 thing, its a "he's really good" thing.

cmon fanatics, its not like chris allen is some unknown juco. mich state plays on espn about 117 times per year.

I don't know about that, since 2000 the B12 has rated out higher than the B10 by a fairly decent margin.

B10 athletics really aren't very impressive.

I agree wholeheartedly but the media haven't been able to reach the same conclusion yet.

I know I live in the heart of Big Ten territory so I expect the local media to be appeasing their potential customers but I still think that the national media still has a "nobody but the Big Ten" indoctrination. I get the impression that they think Nebraska went to a superior conference to get better competition rather than for more money with an easier schedule.

I hope that that Nebraska cleans clock in the Big Ten and the Big 12 continues their national dominance to esatablish an updated historical tradition.

I think it's more of a Mich St. thing, which over the last 10 years has been a top 5 program.

It is good but I am not so excited.

Basically 8 out of 10 current big 12 teams has a player or two on this list.

But unlike the other three, at least he has actually played in major-conference basketball. And in the NCAA tournament, no less.

I'm cautious about hype, too, but pub for Allen is a little more concrete than it would be for an incoming freshman (and, similarly, Royce White, although I'm jazzed about the buzz he's getting. Potentially)
