Nice little note about the incoming freshmen.

BF doesn't claim it as a goal, but, I hope going to NCAA each year is a team goal. It is certainly this fan's expectation with huge post season possibilities this year. We host 1st and 2nd rounds and then Des Moines hosts a regional. Could we be in the Des Moines Regional?

“We’ve got a pretty good football conference, and we’ve got a pretty good conference overall. We’re still walking around with our heads held high and our chest out, about that.” Paul Rhoads

Usually the NCAA tourney is stated up front as a goal. Maybe the answer to the goals question is intended to limit expectations for the season.

Yes. UNI is officially the host school for the regional, so I believe they must be placed in a different region. Everyone else is fair game.

Not in Women's, Baylor hosted in our own arena last year.

Baylor hosted the first two rounds.

Teams can't play in the regional that they host. The way around it is to have the conference be the "host" for the regional -- like when Oklahoma played in the OKC regional in 2009, the Big 12 was officially the host entity.

You are correct, UNI if they were make it could not play in the regional in DSM, but ISU could. If ISU was the regional host, they would be shipped somewhere else. Perfect example last year, Gonzaga. They hosted, and played in Spokane for the regional since Washington State hosted the regional.

"We host the first and second round NCAA Tournament, and that is always the kind of things we strive for as a team."

I'd say that is a goal. He keeps selection date on his play card.

His later comments tempered that this schedule is going to be rough this year, and there are a lot of question marks. Honestly, it is too early to tell what direction this team goes.

We need a guard or three to step up, and we need a vocal leader to emerge. I think our post game is quite solid, and I am hopeful for Anna that she gets an injury/illness (FREE-edit) year.

As his tone implies, we are going to be looking to our freshmen to make contributions, and hopefully one of them emerges as a major contributor.

I really feel like this year (or next year with Poppens & Prins as seniors and all these awesome Texas recruits as sophomores) will be the best and most realistic chance we've had in a long time to make the Final Four. Call me crazy. Yes I know there are question marks and we need some guard play, but gosh it seems like the stars could finally be aligning.

When I thought we had Vanloo coming this year, I was hopeful of that as well. I still think it is a possibility if Moody steps up as PG. Bingley would be a frosh. It will be interesting to see how much minutes she gets this year. I have high hopes for her. As usual, we will see how our non-con goes. I imagine there will be a lot of roster change-ups.

I also think the team will be very strong the year following. Hallie C. will be a senior, and Mayes will be a Junior, that should be a strong post combo, and some experience for our talented/athletic class we have this year with the addition of Bingley/the Kidd in the guard court, could be very, very awesome.

I am also wondering if Hallie C. plays much at the 3 this year.

I wonder about Hallie C too, if she's bulked up especially. Poppens may struggle for playing time if some of the new 3-4 recruits can actually shoot free throws and jump shots. I can't wait to see the starting lineups....!

Pop will continue to play quality minutes, nobody on the team can rebound the ball like she can.
