    Vegas Trip

Never been there. Don't care if we gamble. Where do we stay? Strip or downtown? Want to see some shows while we are there.

    Re: Vegas Trip

I like staying on the strip. Pick some where central like ceasers, or cosmo, so you can walk either way to where you want to go.

Go have dinner at Batistas hole in the wall behind wild bills. Great food, fun atmosphere, and not too expensive. $25 per person with all you can drink wine!

I did not see any shows last time, so I cannot comment.

Le Reve was pretty sweet when we went. I guess going downtown was worth it to check it out, but I would NEVER want to stay down there. I'd agree with trying to get a centralized hotel if you intend to walk the strip and check stuff out. We stayed at the Luxor and it kind of sucked to be so far down on one end.

    Cool Re: Vegas Trip

I like the New York New York / MGM Grand area of the strip. Heck, I love the entire strip, but we usually stay in that area.

A lot of good shows to see and other non-gambling things to do.

    I love Vegas!

    Re: Vegas Trip

I love Vegas. However, I go there to gamble. It depends what you are looking for as far as where you stay. Definitely stay on the strip. If you are trying to do it up cheap, Imperial Palace is a **** hole but is centrally located. You can always walk from there to the other attractions. I really enjoyed the Piano Bar in New York New York as another form of entertainment. I hate to say it but the M&M store is kind of unique as well. When are you going?

EVERYTHING in Vegas is a touristy place, so no need to qualify liking Margaritaville. It's no more predictable and cliche than any other place out there.

    Re: Vegas Trip

I'd stay at Ballys or Harrahs since both are almost midway from either side of the strip. The wife and I saw Cirque du Soleil's Love and were impressed. Try this website as well:

Through allegiant you can get good deals on rooms. We got by pretty good on rooms at Bellagio with views of fountains. Be prepared for extra resort fee charges and room upgrade charges. We saw O - wife loved it, I thought it was OK, but really expensive. Heard Love is good, we enjoyed Blue Man Group.

If you're not dead set on seeing a specific show you can get really good deals at those last minute ticket booths on the strip. That's how we ended up seeing Le Reve.

    Re: Vegas Trip

I have seen Mystere, Jersey Boys, and Phantom of the Opera and I strongly recommend the first 2. Mystere is very funny and some of the acrobatics are just mind boggling, but I think this is true with all the Cirque shows. One time I was talking with a local and he honestly thought Love was the worst one. If you go to this one go 20 minutes early because the line to get in is long and some funny things happen before the show starts. Jersey Boys is a just a great musical that if you like the 4 Seasons this is a no-brainer.

I also recommend you spend the extra money and get the better seats. I try to always get top seats and I have never regretted my decision after the show ended. Also, don't be a moron and show up late.

Also, I don't know if you have considered going to the Hoover Dam, but it is very close and would make a great day trip.

    Re: Vegas Trip

I just got back a few weeks ago. I had never seen the Cosmopolitan but it looked very nice. We stayed at the Monte Carlo this time. It's an ok hotel but it's getting a little old compared to some of the others on the strip. The time we stayed at Vdara and it has some of the nicest rooms I've stayed at in Vegas. The downside for me is that there isn't a casino. The upside is that there isn't a casino.
