    Re: kansas's football coach

Last years recruiting class was decent so I think he get 4 years to prove himself. Also, it is Kansas so I don't think the fans really care if they win or lose in football. To them it is just something to watch till basketball time.

He will get at least 3 years. He is not on the hot seat yet. He will be unemployed in two or three years.

No. He gets at least one more year. Coaches are rarely, if ever, fired after 2 years.

In college football they're not. Gill should get 2-3 more years to see if he can produce anything.

    Re: kansas's football coach

If they do the same as they did last year minus a miraculous comeback like the one against Colorado, he will be fired. If the season is any better, he'll probably be okay for a couple years.

They have a TON of money investing in Gill so he will get 4yrs minimum to make an impact.

He'll win 4 games a year for 3 more years then get fired. He will then go be an assistant at Nebraska.

    Re: kansas's football coach

I think Turner Gill is the right guy at the wrong time. It seems like the whole Big XII has legitimate reason to be hopeful to take a step forward this year. We'll probably see quite a few teams (not Iowa State, knock on wood) that are improved, but still can't take a step forward in their record this year because everybody is improving. Kansas, Texas Tech, and Baylor all look that way.

    Re: kansas's football coach

Having been on the KU campus many times I can attest to one thing....

Not many and I really mean NOT MANY KU fans care about football they only care about one thing...

Winning a National Championship in BasketBall.....

Thats pretty much the long and short of it...Turner Gill will NOT be fired this year regardless how bad the football team fares...

I'm sure many players would agree.

The players' manual that Gill distributed at the beginning of the season also states that members of the team are not allowed to be in the company of women after 10 p.m. on any night of the week.

No one needs to have stepped on KU's campus to realize that.

    Re: kansas's football coach

Turner Gill had one winning season in four years at Buffalo. He won the MAC conference with 8 wins. Buffalo wouldn't have even had a chance to win the conference, much less make a bowl game, had they not had a lucky hail mary with no seconds on the clock to beat Temple. The guy definitely made Buffalo better, but he had done nothing impressive to gain the exposure he did. Kansas was a year late to the party and most likely made a mistake hiring him.
