    Classic TV

If you're a certain age, you get it. This was when TV was at its best.

    Re: Classic TV

Interesting this thread comes up as today, although the classic tv I'm talking about is the way before my time shows, but thanks to syndication I got to see them while growing up. For some reason I happened to come across a 3 part episode on youtube of the old school 1960's era of Lassie show. It came full with 1960's commercials and while it was simple and lame it was kind of refreshing to look back on a time without reality shows and all the superficial crap on tv today. I also enjoyed Gilligan's Island, another old show I liked. I love these new retro channels that showing old school shows but they need to start show GI and other old school nick at nite shows from back in the day again.

I really enjoy M*A*S*H. By far my favorite TV series of all time, followed by House.

Totally agree. I was a young kid in the mid- to late-70s and remember the Battle of the Network Stars and they were awesome. When I found this I had to share. There are tons of these vids out there and they totally bring back memories. Seeing all the stars from those shows together in this kind of a competitive setting was so cool. Today's TV stars are such divas, something like this would never happen today. Especially vexing considering how bad shows today blow. Granted, there were some crappy shows back then too, but I'll take the Duke boys in tug-o-war versus the Incredible Hulk any day of the week.

I remember watching the Dean Martin Show. He always had a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other.

They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there.

That's awesome. Thanks for posting. I don't think Robert Conrad expected to get beat by a scrawny, pale, comedian.

    And Linda Carter. Yum!

    Re: Classic TV

Last Christmas, my sister bought me Hawaii 5-0 Season 4 (1971). I'm not sure why she picked that particular show or season, but maybe she remembered me liking that show when we were growing up. Anyway, my wife (who is younger than me and was not really familiar with it) just finished watching the DVDs.

There were some production things (like the stock footage issues that plagued shows of that era), but the plots were really tight and well thought out (i.e. they weren't able to just run a DNA sample though the computer and pop out a suspect). It's quite interesting that most of the issues and themes that the show dealt with are still relevant today, 40 years later. My wife and I really enjoyed it.
