    Tooth Fairy

I saw this "news" story about how the going rate for a tooth is declining with the economy. However, what shocked me was that the going rate is still $2.60 on average! Either I'm a cheapskate or the times have passed me by, but my kids get $1/tooth, and I think that is a lot.

What does the tooth fairy bring your kids?

I think $1 is sufficient. My cousin's wife said they gave their kids $20. I was shocked by that.

I always got a dollar. My daughter isn't old enough to be losing teeth yet, but I guess I just assumed I would keep with the dollar tradition.

I got a quarter as a kid. Once, when I was on vacation with my dad, I got a whole dollar.

    Re: Tooth Fairy

If I had gotten more than a couple dollars per tooth, I would have lost my teeth a lot faster.

My kids get a note from the tooth fairy telling them a contribution has been made in their name to their 529 plan and enjoy their time at IOWA STATE.

They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there.

    Re: Tooth Fairy

    I think I got a quarter when I was a kid...

Our five year old daughter had her permanent teeth on the bottom coming in behind her baby teeth. Apparently this happens often enough with kids that they just call it shark teeth :D Anyway, so she ended up having to go to the dentist and have the baby teeth extracted and they weren't even very loose. She was a champion through it all, getting shots, etc. so the tooth fairy paid $5 for each one...

She must have a good lawyer. The tooth fairy got nailed for pain and suffering damages for each tooth. Impressive for a 5 year old.

I hated losing teeth, I would keep them in until the last second. I hated the sound of the tooth tearing out of my skull.

    Re: Tooth Fairy

Think I got a buck. Nothing for multiple teeth, either. If I lost 2, it was still a buck. So I became very sneaky at losing a tooth, ensuring I got paid, then losing the next tooth.

I think I usually got a 50 cent piece. My niece said one of her friends gets a barbie.
