    State fair roll call.

    Who's going? I know I am...

What's your favorite thing about the fair?
    What's your favorite food?

I love people watching, so if you are weird looking I'm going to stare at you.

I usually like to go a day or two, but I'm tired of paying the excessive prices. I end up feeling like the new guy in prison.

    Re: State fair roll call.

We camp up in the campground, but new school start dates are messing with the plans.

We go everyday, and see a new group of people to watch everyday. We enjoy the free shows, and usually throw a pre-party before grandstand shows. This years are Maroon 5, and Def L. Thank god for JD shuttles.

Cajun chicken on a stick, beer, Gyro's, and did I mention beer?

If you haven't been on east side night, you're missing out.

    Re: State fair roll call.

I'll be up there about half of the fair, around both weekends and stay in the campground. I need to be there for several of the livestock shows.

I love junior donuts. I always have to get a gyro and a strawberry smoothie. And the lemonade stand on the west side of the hog barn next to the pizza joint is the best lemonade on the grounds. I also really like the taco baked potatoes at the Cattlemen's foodstand.

I spent massive amounts of time and money at Stockmans.

    Re: State fair roll call.

Cajun chicken on a stick, turkey leg, and the fried cheese curds are my favorites. That and a milk shake at Bauder's ice cream too.

Back when I was showing cattle in 4-H my brother and I would basically stay on the fairgrounds for a whole week at the youth inn since the 2 shows we were entered in basically required the cattle to be on-site Monday-Sunday. By the end of the week you got sick of the fair and now all I need is 1 day to see everything I want to since I've seen it all way too much in the past. The one good thing though was we didn't have to pay admission every day and the Youth Inn only cost like $5 a night to stay. Usually walked around and found good free stage bands or sit by the dunk tank clown for awhile to watch him make fun of people.

Is the clown even at the fair anymore? He was hilarious.

    Re: State fair roll call.

I'll be in attendance the first week of the fair plus the two days before. One of the benefits of being a High School Ag Teacher is missing out on those fun teacher meetings to get paid to attend the fair and assist with the students projects. My favorite things are the livestock shows, since I raise show pigs as well as have shown them all my life. For food you can't really beat the Cattlemans or Pork Tents. Also Stockman's across from the Swine Barn is always a must stop in the evenings.

Diamond Jack's is a good place too and usually has some good live entertainment.

Anyone going to any of the concerts? The wife wanted to go to Reba so we have tickets for that. I'd like to see Jason Aldean one of these days but hard to swallow the price of 2 concerts after you factor in the $90 for 2 tickets, the price of admission to the fair, and the cost of food and beer while there. Already in the hole over $100 before you even sit down in your seats.
