Hey there fanatics. I need a little help or at least some opinions. I have built my computers in the past so I have a decent amount of knowledge on tech, but recently my laptop decided to not work at all unless it was plugged in. It never had great battery life...about an hour max but all of a sudden now the split second you take the power cord out, it shuts off like a desktop would if you did the same thing. I'm finding it hard to believe the battery could just go completely dead like that and not even be able to power it for a few minutes at least.
My question is does this sound like a battery failure or something worse? I really don't want to spend money on a battery to find out that it still doesn't work and that I'll need to get a new laptop. It's a Toshiba Satellite ...I don't have the exact specs on me now but can post later if needed. It's about 3 years old I think.
I had the same thing happen with my HP laptop. The battery just wouldn't take a charge anymore. Bought a replacement (non-oem) and it worked okay.
Really? I just didn't think a battery would do that though so fast. Like I said on mine it worked one day and not the next. Figured it would hold at least a little bit of a charge. But that is good news if yours acted similarly. Really didn't want to have to buy a new one.
HP is the worst computer I have ever owned. I have had a Toshiba for a while now and it's the best computer I have owned. Soon I'm getting an Apple Mac Book Pro for my degree and I'm sure it will blow everything out of the water.
Does the battery have any sort of indicator on it (the battery itself) to show whether or not it is charging?
If you could I work see if someone else you know has the same battery and swap to see if that is the problem, personally it sounds like it is the battery that went bad. I've bought non-OEM batteries for both my wife & I and have had no problems...
