    Thomas Pollard won the Youth 3000 meter run National Championship at the United States Track and Field Junior Olympics this weekend in Wichita, Kansas.

    Pollard, who will be a freshman at Gilbert high school this fall, won the race in 9:28.69.

    He also advanced to the finals in the Youth 1500 meter run in a time of 4:26.10.

    Pollard is the son of Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard.

    That's exactly what I thought, killer fast. Give him a scholly for the track team now (although being JP's kid, would he even have to pay tuition at ISU?)

    He'd have to pay (unless of course on scholarship).

    But that time puts him in contention for the 2A distance title next year as a freshman, especially considering I think the 2A defending champ returns in the 3,200 and he'd be training with him. The 1,500 time isn't earth shattering but he'll only get faster as he matures. 2A was ridiculously weak this year so I wouldn't be shocked to see that trend continue next year.
