    Re: How Long?

At the end of the third season, we should have an idea about how well we will compete with the tougher South schedule coming up. I'm going to give him a minimum of three years, if not four, before I start judging the choice.

    Re: How Long?

    *sigh*

Two games into his first season as a head coach and we're already seeing this crap.

If we were 2-0 right now, people would be singing his praises. What some forget is, Chizik can't be on the field and most of our personnel is the same from our 4-8 season from 2006.

    Re: How Long?

That's what I'm saying 22. I am flat out embarrassed to be a Cyclone fan today and it has nothing to do with what happened on the field. It is all from the response of so many people on here and off the boards with such skepticism and acting like we expected 5 or 6 wins this year right away. Sorry, but this program is going to take time and Chizik's system will take even more time because there is so much to learn that is so far different than Mac's program. There is no way that you can tell me that these guys are on the same page and are working Chizik's offense and defense the way that he is coaching it. This team WILL develop this year even though it may not spell victories. I am EXTREMELY excited about the future and trying as hard as I can to ignore all these ******** threads that these blowhards are starting.

    Re: How Long?

I am an ISU grad and Cyclone fan who lives in NE. Beleive me, the first ( and second) year that Callahan took over, many Husker fans were upset big time with Callahan and Peterson (the AD) and wanted them replaced. This has slowly turned around. So even a great program like Nebraska had several bad seasons before things started looking up. I was disappointed too these last 2 weeks, but we need to be patient.

Actually I expected only two or three wins. Looks like Iowa is the easiest to win for the future. Just hope we do not give up 70 to Oklahoma however. How can UNI;s line be so much bigger and stronger than ours? I thought we worked out all summer.

Bill first won 5 or 6, then maybe 8 games. Of course he plays 8 home games a year.He still is on somewhat thicker ice. USC next week and a stronger North to play. He actually lucked out against a fair Wake Forest team, He has one maybe decent qb away from a major blow. He still has not won 9 games the norm like Solich did the last year. He is recruiting like gangbusters but he still has a ways to put on Osbournes pants and Bob's shirt. Jury still out. Let's see if he can beat Pinkel in Columbia this year - the match of great coaches.

Not even most are from last year. Half the players starting are either first year players or ones not talented enough to start on last years 4-8 season. Let's wait to see how Chizik recruits and what he can do with his own players. That will take at least 3 years. (I voted for 4)

    Re: How Long?

Dan McCarney was given a contract extension after a 1-10 season, his third season. We should give Chizik at least that long. Four years, minimum.

    Re: How Long?

College athletics isn't rocket science. It takes talent to win. It will take five seasons for GC to retool the roster.

GC will get it done. I worry more about what happens once he has success. I hope ISU fans embrace the coaching staff through these tough times, so that we aren't just a stepping stone to bigger and better things.
