I think I am at the point...

where I feel like if Texas and ESPN really want the Big 12 to survive and thrive, it's time to re-brand the Longhorn network as the Big 12 network.

The LHN simply will not survive with content from one school alone as a dedicated channel. However, if you add content in from all the other schools, it could make it, and thrive. Look how good the Big 10 network is doing. We could have the same thing, and even make Texas more money than they do now.

Bottom line, IMO, if the Longhorn Network continues to exist, the Big 12 will not.

I honestly don't think the LHN will even have enough material to fill all the air time. Think about it, even with 12 teams now the big ten network is just putting football games on rerun all the time. Also add the fact that they will only be able to air two football games a season and I don't think there will be anything worth watching on there.

I'm sure they will have plenty of track & field, swimming, and tennis meets to show. That will be exciting.

I agree that they need to scrap the LHN and just make a B12N. They would be able to market it to many TV markets rather than just Texas, and fill more airtime with sports programming that people actually want to watch.

It's time? LOL! The LHN has even launched yet and its distribution is TBD and you come with that conclusion?

Re: I think I am at the point...

    What a sad thread.

It is obvious that A&M and OU are concerned about the distance that UT can put between them. They have every reason to be concerned, because UT is now printing it's own money.

Don't think for a minute that OU, more to the point the football staff, don't understand how much easier it will be to get to BCS, and NC games from the Big 12. A&M is not even going to compete for SEC championships, and the other schools are irrelevant.

What these two schools understand is that it is easier to try to check UT before all of this starts than it will be once everything is in place. It really is not anymore complicated than that.

Tim Brando is an SEC shill, and his living is directly related to the SEC's success on CBS. There is no doubt that the SEC would love to take these teams from UT, to prevent the financial gap from widening even further. They are a willing accomplice to efforts to ensure that this doesn't happen.

OU, A&M, are going to push $25 million plus when the new TV contracts are negotiated. Mizzu and Okie State are going to get to at least $18-20 million. That is a lot of money to leave on the table. The people that run the schools are quite aware of what they are looking at.

A new SEC contract would be HUGE, but they are not going to see that type of money when it will be split 16 ways. Add the increased on field and recruiting competition, and leaving makes no sense.

They can just air reruns of our victories over them. I'd watch
