    Aaron Horne

Super glad to see this kid atop the depth chart as that says a lot about him as a newcomer. Ever since the first cyclones.com video came out displaying his speed and quickness, I've seen in him something we've been missing the last couple years. Now, regardless of how Steele Jantz pans out, for good or for bad, I highly doubt we'll regret that offer, as Horne might turn out to be the gem of the package deal. Only time will tell. My hope is that they both become superstars.

I think it's safe to say the posters that doubted him when he first came, ate some crow.

It's completely possible that he ends up doing more for ISU than Jantz.

My money's still on Jantz to start, but nothing would shock me (except Richardson starting).

Kind of scary that a guy we picked up late as kind of an after-thought has made it into the starting lineup of our receiving corps. Where would we be without him right now?!?

    Re: Aaron Horne

I was glad that we got him back in Febuary just for the fact that it would be easier on Steele to mix in and have someone that he's familiar with to start. Now I'm shocked and excited to see what Horne can become. He was a huge steal.

The guy was always impressive in his reel footage. Somneone might want to repost it.

He sure knows how to grab the deep ball. He can be a weapon. He almost looks like a smaller version of that fellow that the Huskers had the last few years. He can goi and get it if you out it out there long enough. He has potential to have a big year.

I think it just points out how bad our receivers have been.

I laugh when people get all excited about speed and athletic ability. Route running and good hands are every bit as important. There have been some great, great receivers that haven't been the fastest on the field but they run great routes and get open. Once open, they actually catch the ball.

I am not saying speed isn't important but route running is a forgotten skill by fans. Brandon Lloyd led the NFL in receiving yards last year and ran a 4.61. Roddy White ran a 4.47 and was 2nd etc...

I was hoping some of our new WR would break into the starting line up

Whitver is exactly who I thought about, too. Not that everyone has to be like someone else...but, if he can be that guy that has a knack for finding open spaces I think that's exactly what we need.

I totally agree with this post. The most positive thing our receiving corp can see right now is some new guys cracking the starting lineup. First of all, it means that the new guys are better than what you already have, which is always good. Secondly, it forces the veteran players to step up their game or they will get benched. With us having the worst receiving corp in the Big 12 last year, I have no proglems with any of this.

From the spring practice videos and game he looked like the most polished receiver.

    Re: Aaron Horne

Horne can be running downfield, bend backward to see and then smoothly catch the ball. He looks gifted at making the hard catch look easy without breaking stride. He had several long plays on his highlight reel. He probably was the reason Jantz got his accolades.

His new name? The A-Bomb or H-Bomb or AH Bomb.
