    Realignment links: voices of reason

Two links I saw that show people are blowing this up way out of hand way too soon:

Big 12 taps the brakes on Longhorn Network’s high school football coverage | CollegeFootballTalk

Beebe basically said last night that there will be no high school games this year, and the Big 12 game on ESPN Longhorn will be held off temporarily...

Sports Extra - Blogs - OU leaving the Big 12 over the Longhorn Network would seem a longshot | Tulsa World

This Tulsa world blog makes a very good point about how it wouldn't make sense for the OU AD to flip his stance on the Big 12 in such a short time...

There you go people. Stop freaking out about something that hasn't even happen yet. Nice links cyman!

I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads

I cant stand the Texass Arrogance... This is a comment from one of the links

BYU is not on our schedule by accident
I suspect that Dodds is about 5 moves ahead of the farmers.

My money is that Stoops won’t compete in the $EC. If OU does go to the $EC Stoops is going to tOSU.

Aggies can try to keep pulling OU in to the be their new “big brother,” but in the end OU will more likely stay as the other powerhouse leader of the Big XII-II; provided they are getting their own network deal lined up.

If Aggies leave we are fine. It ruins Thanksgiving day fun, but that is about it. .

If Aggie, OU, OSU and Mizzou leave, the Big XII-VI will be our own little conference.

We can go to the Big 10, but God forbid, the idea of pounding on Nebraska some more is getting boring. Also, I don’t want to be near tOSU and their burning couches and lousy crappy fans. At least we would be with respectable academic schools.

The other option—which is what we probably have in play—is to simply go independent. It has worked for Notre Dame. Or, we could invite teams like TCU, UH, SMU, Rice, and/or BYU to basically revive our little old Southwest Conference. Wouldn’t that be fun. We would be strong contenders for BCS bowl games every year.

There won't end up being high school games on the Longhorn network that will cross the line of illegal recruiting. They were talking about it on the 810 radio with and A&M guy yesterday. The A&M guy doesn't even think they are going anywhere.

I wouldn't call it arrogance, but rather the truth. From a power standpoint, Texas is the most dominant and powerful university in the country. It can print its own money and call a lot of the shots. Like it or not, it's the truth.

Also, I agree with the poster about OU. Do you really think Bob Stoops wants to play in the SEC? He knows the road to a BCS game or national championship game is much easier in the BIG 12 versus the SEC.

At then end of the day, we should be pretty thankful for Texas because we are making a lot more money because of them. It may not be the most ideal scenario but its much better than the alternative.

If it weren't for running around in Chicken Little mode, many Cyclone fans would have nothing to do all summer.

Re: Realignment links: voices of reason

Could someone set up a poll about how concerned fans really are? I don't think a majority of fans are really concerned with A&M and OU leaving, but I guess it is good discussion during the summer. I believe that we are definitely not in the same position as last summer and that is a huge relief.

I can honestly say I'm not too concerned at this point, but its going to get old having this **** come up every year.

I'm pretty sure this **** is real. I fully understand why Texas aTm and OU, amongst others, are ****** about this. I wish ISU had a spot to be ****** about it as well, but truth be told, ISU's fate is in Texas's hands right now, and ISU needs to pretty much turn a blind eye to what they are doing. Deep down I'm sure JP and company know what Texas is doing is wrong, but they also know its best they keep their mouths shut.

Do people REALLY think this makes Texas that much stronger relative to us athletically? REALLY?

    Law of diminishing returns.
