    LED/LCD TV's

I am in the business of buying a new TV and need some recommendations. Would like a 47+ inch LED/LCD. I've heard Samsung is one of the best. Anybody have one that has worked well for them?

I just got a 47" LG LED, love it. I narrowed my selection to Sony, LG, and Samsung. Don't think you can go wrong with any of those.

Big fan of Samsung. They won my loyalty when they replaced a faulty power supply board (bad capacitors) on my 40-inch LCD 3 years outside of warranty at no expense to me.

My wife agreed to let me buy a 32-inch LCD for our bedroom - I really didn't even look at anything else besides Samsung.

I'm also looking to get a new one sometime pretty soon.
How's Vizio? I see a lot of people have those and seem to be reasonably priced.

I've also heard nothing but good things with Samsung.

What is your budget for the TV? That goes a long way towards giving a recommendation. Also what type of room is it going in?

I know you didn't mention it in your post but I am a big fan of the Panasonic plasma's. They offer a great bang for your buck.

    Re: LED/LCD TV's

I think Samsung has the best LCD & LED and Panasonic has the best plasmas. One thing to consider between LCD & LED is the distance you will be viewing from. LCDs the larger they are the farther you need to be from the screen. The LCD is clear from any distance, but the kicker with Samsung LED is the sound comes out the back and the volumn is not the best. Would help with external speakers. I have one of each and I like them both, other than the sound on the LED. Also, they both swivel. Nice.

Was your TV having trouble turning on and then would turn on with lines on it? Mine is doing the same thing.

As far as TV'S just saw that Toshiba has one with built in wifi. That is a nice feature. No interest in 3D.

I have a Vizio 55 inch LED/LCD that I got from Wal-Mart for a great price. As far as I can tell the picture on it is pretty good on it. One thing I did notice is that if you are watching golf the ball is a little fuzzy in flight when they hit it with their driver. I did in-store pick-up with my TV and it saved me $200 from what it was listed for in the store.

A Vizio is darn near the perfect bedroom TV. I have a 32" with an HD box in there and it's probably better than I need.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Samsung 46 inch LCD. Would buy another in an instant. LN46B650 is the model. I did add a Polk Audio sound bar which did help the sound a bunch. I don't think there is a flat screen out there with a good built in speaker setup.

It progressed to the point where it had lines the first two or so times I tried turning it on. After that, it would spend 3-4 minutes trying to turn itself on and fail. After about the 6th time it would turn on, but would be heavily pixelated in cyan, magenta, and yellow. After about another 3-4 times turning it on and off, I would finally have a clear picture.

I would say check out this site: Samsung, but it was rather unhelpful. I got a lot more help dialing 1-800-SAMSUNG, even though I usually hate talking to a voice over the phone. They were very nice and took great care of me.

    Re: LED/LCD TV's

We have a 46" Sony XBR and highly recommend it. 10ft away is about the ideal viewing distance. And the sound out of the box is the best of any wide screen I've ever experienced.

Also have a 47" LG LED/LCD for another room ... picture is nice, but not quite as good as the Sony, and the sound is poor in comparison. We put a sound bar on it for movies and some sports and concert events to make up for it. The upside is it only cost about 1/2 of the Sony.
