    New here (video board question)

Hey everyone, new to the site and I have a question about the video board that I couldn't find a direct answer to by reading any of the threads.

I was wondering if they are going to put cement on the "legs" of the steel structure to make it look more like jack trice?

The reason I ask this is because I saw a picture today that looks like the are doing something with the "legs". Here is the picture I'm referring to:

Would look great if they put brick around the "legs". Looks like they're doing something.

they are worried about people trying to climb the structure and have been planning a way to prevent this without having to have people stationed there during games, but i have not heard what the final decision was. two of the options that i have heard were a cement base and a steel fence/base.

Metal might look cool if they can etch things into it, however I think cement would make it fit in more with the stadium.

I believe they building a retaining wall. They had to excavate around the pillars and now they have to put the ground back. If you look the walls are too far away from the pillars to be a outer shell.

I do believe I heard, however that the first 10 feet or so will be covered somehow to prevent people from climbing it.

Re: New here (video board question)

They will have to have something around the legs that is more of a smooth surface, that way no one gets the crazy idea that they can climb the damn things!

I haven't heard exactly what they are going to do though, any insights?

You know some drunkards would do it if something wasn't done to protect the base of the scoreboard on each side.

It has already been stated when the design was announced that the first 10-12 ft will be covered in some manner to prevent anyone from climbing.

Great - to go along with the plasma cutter I now have to bring in order to tear down the goalposts to throw them in the lake, I now have to bring rappelling gear in order to climb the scoreboard. Thanks, ISU...

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

If we wouldnt have exposed metal beams, we wouldn't have this problem.

Exactly what I was thinking, just get a boost at that height. Needs to be atleast 15+ feet of cover.

Don't confuse hope for a plan.
