Hoiberg Looking To Make A Move In Year Two

Hoiberg Looking To Make A Move In Year Two - Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - The home of Iowa State Cyclone Sports

"I love shooters. We're going to recruit shooters and we're going to shoot a lot of threes," Hoiberg said. "In my mind, we're going to have four of the best shooters in the conference next year in Scott (Christopherson), Tyrus (McGee), Chris Allen and Chris Babb. With those guys, you've got four knockdown shooters."

Amen, Freddy, Amen. :) Gotta be able to shoot the rock in this game.

In end of game scenarios, go small with those four and White. Spread the floor, make it almost impossible to double team White. I think we're going to much better at finishing games this year.

I toyed with doing some panic. I wish they had titled that article differently.

cyclones.com does a great job with those summer preview articles. not much "new" in there this year, but nice to see hoiberg's quotes on all the players.

"When I got this job, the first thing I wanted to do was bring in as much talent as possible," Hoiberg said. "I know if we want to compete in a league like the Big 12, you have to have the athletes and you have to have the talent to be able to compete on a nightly basis. And we found that talent through the transfers."
This made my day. How refreshing...

Re: Hoiberg Looking To Make A Move In Year Two

I'm usually not one to add hot air to the cyclone hype balloon, but I love what Fred has done in his short time as head coach so far. I often find myself getting really excited about our future and I can't help but think some of the best years (if not, the best) of Cyclones MBB are approaching us. Not only that, but our beloved Freddy is leading the charge and he brings out the best in everyone around him. There is "no one" in the country I'd rather have as a head coach right now (no jimlad on that either).

    FREDDY, FREDDY, FREDDY!!

No jimlad necessary. Fred is the man. I can't wait until CBS gets to air a classic "Mayor comes home to lead the Cyclones back to the tournament" vignette this March.

I'm hopeful for March too, but I'm not convinced about this year quite yet. I'm most excited about the players Fred has been able to recruit b/c that is laying the foundation for years to come. It doesn't feel like all of our eggs are in 1 basket for 1 year of success and that's a beautiful breath of fresh air.

Usually when a former player or fan favorite comes back to coach there is a sense that he doesn't quite know what he is doing or seems to lack a plan before too long. However, it seems like the opposite scenario with ISU and Fred. I'm no basketball expert but there is obviously a clear sense of direction with the program right now.

I'm still trying to remain cautious but every few weeks it seems we are getting good news of some sort whether it be a talented transfer or a committment from a HS kid with an impressive offer list or an existing committment blowing up.

Exactly. And it ends with the sad termination of that coach. Fred just has a very different feel to what he's doing, like he's always known what to do and how to do it.
