    Rambis Fired

Kurt Rambis fired as coach of Minnesota Timberwolves - ESPN

Anybody else kind of glad that this job is opening up now and not 2-3 years from now when Fred may look like an attractive option?

    Re: Rambis Fired

I have no idea whether Rambis can coach or not - kind of hard to tell when the only guy in the entire organization worth a damn (and when I say org, I mean roster, coaches, GM, ownership, etc) is K-Love...

It'll probably be open in 2-3 years again, too.

    Re: Rambis Fired

Based on what he's accomplished in such a small amount of time, it won't be only the Timberwolves who are interested in him.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Look, I love what Hoiberg did last season as much as the next Cyclone fan and I think I see the light at the end of this very long, dark tunnel, but from the vernacular national viewpoint, Hoiberg didn't do jack **** last season. 16-16 and finishing dead last in conference isn't going to inspire many people nationally. Yes, he caught the eye of those paying attention last season, and more people should become aware of what's going on in Ames following this season, but quite frankly the opinion would have to be Hoiberg hasn't done anything yet (note - this isn't my personal opinion, I actually was paying attention last season).

I'll just take solace in the fact that Hoiberg is home, this is his dream job, and he actually wanted this job 5 years ago.

    Re: Rambis Fired

We don't have to worry about Hoiberg leaving for many years to come. He's just too green right now to be an NBA coach.

Yeah I don't disagreee with anything you said and I should've gone into more detail. I was talking more about what he's done to stop the player turnover, raise the talent level, and increase fan interest. I believe the wins are coming soon. NBA management types know Fred and are probably keeping an eye on him. If someone like Mark Cuban comes calling in a couple years I'd be worried and I believe that's a distinct possibility assuming the success we're all expecting.
