A shooter to replace Scott C. is what it would appear to me.

Seems weird that he basically plays the same position as Okoro. I wonder if this means they are not optimistic about Dorsey-Walker. Also, there's the Wisconsin kid for 2013 that sounds like a similar player. It will be interesting to see how this all comes together.

Far be it for me to question our offers, so can someone else tell me why this doesn't feel like a weird stretch of an offer so I don't have to wait for someone else to question this offer openly.

we've been first to offer on several prospects now - that should become less and less of a surprise now. kid has been described as the best shooter in NYC, might as well beat some of the big east to the punch while they wait to offer.

If he does sign with us I have to wonder if we'll redshirt him. 170 pounds at 6'3 isn't going to cut it in the Big 12.

That is a fair answer. But, why for 2012? Don't we only have one scholarship remaining? And, we currently have somewhere around 5 offers for that one spot. I guess that is why it comes off as weird. But, these guys no talent when they see it, and I can see what you are saying about being a shooter.

I had the same thought as you when just glancing at ESPN and Rivals profiles: unimpressive offer list, no rankings, obviously one-dimensional shooter. But, after digging a little more, it sounds like his recruitment is really heating up - a lot if high major schools are getting interested now. I'm gathering that he has improved from being essentially "catch and shoot" only to also shooting well off the bounce.

ISUChippewa: Not sure if that weight (170) is correct anymore. One recent description I saw implied that he is well-built... So maybe he has hit the weights/ training table.

Guys it's still the summer and we only have 1 scholarship remaining so I think it is safe to say that the staff will only offer guys at this point that they really really like. We can afford to be picky because if we swing and miss, no big deal as we can still wait til the spring or look at possible transfers.

Re: Basketball Recruiting: ISU offers 2012 SG Brian Bernardi

Look, I'll just say it I guess. This doesn't look picky to me. This looks like Coach A going on a shopping spree and offering scholarships to anybody he thinks looks good. Seriously, how many scholarship offers have gone out to New England kids in the last couple months compared to the rest of the country. He obviously has a green light to offer, and that's not all bad. You have to move quickly in these situations.

Maybe this kid is incredible and is better or just as good as anyone else we have offered for 2012. It just seems a little weird. I hope he's great. I just didn't expect another offer on a 2012 kid, especially and under the radar kid.

With all that being said, I accept broken's answer above, and will be happy to be wrong if he joins us.
