OSU to voluntarily vacate 2010 season and Sugar Bowl

Breaking News on Sports Center right now.

No scholarship reduction or post-season ban. Think NCAA will find this sufficient?

Edit: Added CNN and ESPN story

    This.

I truly hope the NCAA comes down hard (and I believe that they will)

    Worthless.

Right. "Hey, everybody, the Sugar Bowl never happened now. We're clean!"

    Yeah, that works.

Another interesting tidbit in the release is that they have now changed Tressel's resignation to a "retirement". Must be a contract thing.

Well in this case they can hire Tressel back

I guess I'm calling this the "We know you've got us and you've got us good. Please have mercy. We'll be good" plea.

More like "OSU voluntarily vacates 2010 season and Sugar Bowl victory because they know the NCAA will do it anyway"

When the folks on Sportscenter think your self-imposed sanctions are weak, you probably haven't helped your cause.

That might be an appropriate punishment if only the players, tatt guy, and car dealer knew about it. Once the program knew about it and covered it up, gotta be some future punishment.

Are these guys serious?? USC got the hammer smacked down on them when they went through this. If these guys don't expect similar if not probably worse punishment than USC; I really think they are just kidding themselves.

Are they going to pay the millions of dollars back for the bowl game too? I like the taking away the fine on Tressel, he must have something else he is holding over thier head.

Let's just play a mulligan for 2010, and move on, that sounds fair to us......

Re: OSU to voluntarily vacate 2010 season and Sugar Bowl

Until the NCAA starts to take away $$ earned from last season or impose a big fine cheating will never stop. They need to punish them hard enough to not do it again, not punish them because they got caught.

The Republicans and Democrats fighting over who should pay for the deficit, is like two drunks on the Titanic arguing over who should pay the bar tab.

no way, completely stupid... this would not do anything to the program... pretend we didnt play, and win the sugar bowl... Everyone please burn all video footage of that amazing game... DUMB

they should release all players that want to be released as they should not be punished, and be on scholly reduction as well as a post season ban for a couple years.
