Just got back from the scrimmage before UNI game

For what it's worth, it looked like Victor Davila was enjoying himself very much. He just smiled and shook his head when Clark and Brackins threw down some acrobatic dunks.

Who knows, I think we just might have a good shot at landing this young man. Hopefully, tonight and tomorrow morning go just as well for him.

Man, I know the football season has only begun, but I cannot wait for Mac's team to take the floor! I've heard from a VERY inside source that the attitude of this team, including all the youngsters, has just been outstanding.

I'd love to get this guy. Sounds like a pretty fair amount of competition for him, though.

I'm guessing about 1/2 of the south side of the lower level was filled, so there were several hundred. It was just way too nice outside for all the tailgaters to come inside Hilton. It was still a nice crowd, though.

I was happy to start a "WE WANT VICTOR" chant before the game.

If he commits, this day wasn't a total loss.

I saw Victor Davilla at the game and he was BIG! He was wearing a baggy shirt but he looked like he had a Big 12 body. I hope we can get him.

Good to hear he was enjoying himself. I would absolutely go ape if we were able to sign this kid.

Re: Just got back from the scrimmage before UNI game

Here is my assesment of the scrimage with several hundred showing up lasting about an hourl although i didnt see victor there and i was looking im glad he seemed to have a good time.

Marcus Brister- Has the big 12 body id been hearing about. Didn't shoot the ball alot,
seemed to pass alot and look for players, drove in several times making
a good number of them. Didnt shoot really any outside shots so I couldnt
    judge that.

Diante Garrett- He has got some very good ball handling moves out there. Harrison
Barnes guarded him while his team was in. Has a decent shot out there
made a couple three's drove the lane. Didn't think he finished a whole lot
driving as the post players were blocking lots of shots. Jiri seemed to
have to get him to calm down after diante started making a fit about
something because people were around. I think he has got more
potential than brister but marcus seemed to be running the show more
smoothly this scrimmage. This is the first time I have seen either of them
    play.

Sean Haluska- Wow, that is what I can say about him. I can honestly say I didn't know
what to say about him till after I saw him play. I agree with an earlier
post he shot like atlest 8-10 on threes. Every time my friend got a text
he had just hit another three. He was showing good leadership out there
and definetely is going to get playing time this year. He has the same
type of release that Adam had. He looked quicker than Adam but not
as big with his speed. He was also driving the ball and playing
fundamental basketball. He should be very good.

Lucca Staiger- Has a definite big 12 body out there. Can shoot the ball. Plays very
fundamental basketball out there. Was setting people up like Harrison
Barnes constanty. He is always looking to get other people involved. He
looks like he could start at the 2 guard spot. He had some good moves
out there and after mcdermott gets to him I think he will be very good.

Wesley Johnson- Wesley is Wesley. He was draining 3's out there all scrimmage as his
team never lost till the end. He had good moves and looks like his
strength has gotten better. Very mature player out there playing
fundamental basketball. Had a very nice dunk. He was hitting three's,
shooting mid range jumpers, getting nice rebounds and doing everything
the same, but better than last year.

Rashon Clark- Had several really nice dunks that made the crowd go wild. Showed really
good leadership out there. He was playing the same game as the last
several years he's been doing. Didn't shoot particulary good, but had some
nice baskets and as always very good athletisism.

Harrison Barnes- As one of the previous threads said, he is a stud. He is only a
sophomore in high school and being a Ames High Alum myself I payed
more close attention to see how he was doing when he was in. He is
very skinny right now but once he gets older he is going to be really
awesome. He has that it factor like when I playing football my senior
year and Austin Arnaud was a sophomore starting for us you just knew
that they were the man to lead you. He had a couple three's, couple
put backs and showed some nice moves. Had a good turnaround shot
technique and definetely looked like he belonged out there. Good to see
him talking with brackins alot on the sidelines waiting to get in.

Alex Thompson- Looked really good. Had good post moves down there, making short
jumpers and making a couple three's. Showed alot of heart out there
and was playing really hard and tuff down there. He is definetely alot
stronger than his AHS days and his Iowa days. I was pretty impressed
with him. At 6-10 around 240 he can compete in the big 12 post with
the rest. Has a very good shot for a post player as he played the 3 spot
in high school. Should get lots of minutes this year.

Craig Brackins- Looked very good out there. Definetely see why he was a 5* recruit.
He had a very nice windmill dunk toward the end of the scrimmage. He
was hitting three's, getting tough rebounds, making good post moves and
has a very nice shot. His body looks like Kevin Durants out there but he
fighting out for everything. Brackins and corey had a thing going out
there, It was a good competition between the two trying to one up each
other all in good fun. He is going to be something special before he is
    done.

clayton Vette- Looks very solid out there. Had a couple good post moves. Didn't get the
ball a whole lot. I'd say he has alot of potential that Mcdermott can work
with. I think it would be a good year to redshirt with brackins, hubalek,
thompson, johnson for post players. If he doesn't redshirt he can
physically play with everyone for the big 12. Has his hair cur from his
recruiting pictures just so you know.

Jiri Hubalek- Showed up a couple minutes late. Didn't look like he really gained any
weight in the off-season. But with the major progress Mcdermott made with
him, hes gonna be really good this year as long as he keeps doing what he
was toward the end of last year. Didn't make much baskets but did little
    things to help his team.

Corey Johnson-He played really hard and showed alot of strength and toughness out
there. Had some good shots and baskets out there. He battled really hard
down there and didn't take this scrimmage lightly. He looks improved over
last season. Looks alot more confident out there with his entire game and
could surprise some of us this year. I guarantee when he gets into the
games this season he will be giving it his all every time.

Thanks for the detailed report. It was especially good to hear after the debacle of a football game.

I was confused about this though:

"Every time my friend got a text
he had just hit another three."

    You were referring to Haluska...

Gotcha...I thought your friend had his phone set up to notify him whenever Haluska hit a three.
