He tore his ACL. That sucks.

    When it rain it pours.

On a side note, Paul Clark says that Scales might be back for Toledo. Huh??? Am I missing something?

Was he scheduled to start? The defense just can't catch a break . . . if the running game isn't going well to keep them (the D) off the field, it could be a long season.

For once I'm thinking positive. This is not the end of the world. The sky is not falling. No disrespect, but we are talking about Kurtis Taylor here.

We may be talking about Kurtis Taylor, BUT he was the starting DE. What does that say about the guys behind him?

This is the ghost of Jason Berryman biting us.

Well i have faith in Rashawn Parker. I saw his rivals video when he signed and he very much reminded me of Berryman. Now he'll be compared to him even more since hell play as a true frosh. due to someones injury. Hopefully he has a rookie year comparable to Jason, minus the 2-10 record. Looks like the guys from Ponca City, OK are going to get a lot of PT this year.

i had heard earlier this week that Machado was challenging for Taylors spot anyway. So maybe we'll be just fine.

they might have put that out after Taylor got hurt. A lil damage control, so noone jumps off a building over it. Hype Machado up so it doesnt seem like a big deal.

Hell, play Parker. Might as well have all the Ponca City boys in there, it could really help our recruiting in Oklahoma. I am bummed about this, but if we really are to the point where our defense can't handle losing Taylor than we're worse off than I thought. Depth is beyond thin at this point though.

I wish the best for Taylor and am excited that he'll be back with two years left next year though. Injuries are part of football... at least now the team has time to rally around Machado or Parker and prepare themselves for the season.

On a side note... doesn't it seem like there have been about 10,000 ACL injuries at ISU in the last year? Remember how many there were last spring and summer too? It's unreal, I feel bad for those kids, and I'm happy that we have such a good medical staff that they can get them healthy very quickly. Good luck to all the injured guys.
