That team could have been a 11 win team, I truly believe that.

God that defense was good. Especially in the Iowa game. That day they looked like title contenders.

I can forgive losing one or two games in OT, but the Kansas game especially was inexcusable, as was the home loss to Baylor.

JT was freaking insane for the Iowa and Colorado games, but the place was mausoleum in that Baylor game.

Re: 2005 Plays of the Year

My favorite game that year had to be when they went down to College Station and just crushed A&M. That was a fun game to watch. Blythe was the man that day. Overall a season of several missed opportunities. Missing field goals in overtime against Missouri and Kansas that year and Leadders dropped int that would have beat Nebraska and just an awful team effort against Baylor. I am sure there are other missed opportunities that year I am forgetting.

Re: 2005 Plays of the Year

2005 is a prime example that hok fans have no idea what they're talking about when they say ISU fans only care about ISU/iowa. ISU won that game 23-3, but you'd be hard-pressed to find any ISU fan who would call that season a success. To me, that season was even more disappointing than 2002.

That was my favorite Cyclones team ever I really think they could have won 11 games that year. I remember being at the Colorado game and tailgaiting before it white a tornado went over the city of Ames and ISU played the best game I have ever seen BIG PLAY CURVEY!!!!

what about L.Hicks not being able to scoop the ball and run it in for a touchdown, vs Neb! ahh! so much talent on that team, i wonder what CPR could of done with that team same/better/worse.

IIRC, Berryman just basically set up camp in Iowa's backfield that day.

Also, check out the punishment that Dobbins delivers to the poor Iowa backup QB at about the 1:23 mark. Those are the hits that hurt 5 days later.

I believe it was DeAndre Jackson that couldn't quite get the clean scoop on that play. We were lucky to be in that position and force that fumble there...still a big play, though.

You're right, I spoke with DeAndre about that a little over a year ago. He said it goes through his mind often!

Man, that was a great defense. Brings back good memories doesn't it?

    And some pretty awful ones.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

That team literally could have won all of the their games. Or maybe 11-1 as they could have lost to Army.
