Now that the 4th is over

time to really start gearing up for the season. Am I the only one who once July hits starts really getting amped up?

I am looking at Jantz as our starting QB.

I think Shontrelle will be the star of the offense though, I think he will be a 1000 yard back.

Re: Now that the 4th is over

I went through my "completely obsessed w/football" stage the week and a half prior to the 4th. I watched all the classic games I have, several Season in Review DVDs, and any youtube clips I could find.

I have a two week period like that every year during the summer. It came earlier than usual this year, but it's behind me and I'm more focused on some other projects I have going on. It will probably really hit me again after vacation in August.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

I just completely clamp down my mind and try not to think about football at all. That usually breaks down towards the end of July and then I count the seconds.

Excited to see how it all shakes out. We've had some adversity over the spring and summer. Hopefully we"ve matured, leadership has developed, and the hard work will pay off.

Re: Now that the 4th is over

Honestly, I'm looking forward to it, but the excitement for football doesn't really hit until August for me. Meanwhile, basketball runs year-round.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Re: Now that the 4th is over

As a HS coach, The month of May seems the longest since it feels like we are getting kind of close, but still a couple months off. Then June freakin flies by and we start OL camp Monday, then 3 days of team camp the week after, and get going for real on the 30th. That helps the time go faster to get to ISU FB.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Re: Now that the 4th is over

I'm excited for the season to start, but for some reason, I'm looking forward to basketball more this year than I have in years past. Once we get to August, I'll be ready for some football!

Re: Now that the 4th is over

The Fourth, for some odd reason, has always been a "marker" for me. Never fails, soon as it hits, the summer accelerates into high speed and football is here before you know it. I plan to hang out here long enough to take in a couple of games (can't wait to see that scoreboard!) and then it's back to Arkansas. I will say one thing about being back here, it's nice to hear and read about the Cyclones most every day than hearing all the Razorback hype.

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Re: Now that the 4th is over

Well, we are staring Big 12 media days right in the face. I am really jacked up for this season from some reason. This is the most talent I think we have had since 2005, and I think this team is deeper than that one was.
