    CPR radio interview

Don't know if this has been posted yet. Probably the best interview I've heard with CPR. I have no idea why the local guys can't do this.

Yep... It's been posted already with similar thoughts on why local media doesn't do something similar.

    Re: CPR radio interview

While it may or may not be true that B12 games will be on more I don't think you can diminish the value of the BTN. I have to admit I watch it often and would absolutely love a channel devoted to the B12 with features on ISU and historical takes on the conference. Having all the games on TV is great but a network devoted to the conference would be huge.

No. Like most businesses, it comes down to talent. This guy is talented. He does his research, asks engaging questions, isn't a goober, etc.

There is a reason why he's in a bigger market and the Des Moines guys come across as lazy, tavern hawks....our guys aren't very good at what they do.

That's some truth. I haven't listened to T&T since probably March. Miller and Deace were good entertainment, and I even listen to Matt & Miller pretty regularly. This new slate of guys (outside of Murph & Andy) just aren't very good at all.

I agree. Murph & Andy are the best Des Moines (and state of Iowa) has by a wide margin.

Because at this time of year they are too busy covering MLB, Pro football, golf, and pop culture.
I completely tune out of the local shows from about April until August.

I think that it's huge from a monetary standpoint. But the fact is that most of the country is NOT able to watch those games. A majority of the country has regular cable with no sports tier...and the BTN would not be shown on their TV. Only on Direct TV can you get that channel on "basic cable". Dish Network, you used to, but I thought that was only a couple year deal before moving it to the sports tier.

So, for recruiting in Big 11 states, yeah, it's great. For places like TX, FL, CA...not so much unless you have DTV or pay for a sports tier. Just access-wise, the new Big 12's package is better. The third tier games are just one game per team, so every other game is going to be on either ABC, ESPN, FX or FSN. That's pretty dang good. You'll be able to see 11 out of 12 ISU games on MOST basic cable systems...unless ISU is on ABC regional.

    Re: CPR radio interview

Central Iowa is horribly lacking on radio talent.

I didnt realize it as much at the time but Miller and Deace had a great show, it has become more evident with T&T in the am how good M&D were (or maybe how bad T&T are).

Miller and Brinson are just average if that. It is somewhat interesting that they talk more than just local sports but just like yesterday Brinson was bumbling through 10-20 seconds of air time while he was looking for a pitchers record as a starter. This is a minor gripe but i just think this type of thing separates good from average.

Its beyond pride. Its a restored trust. Theres a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State it factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the mans enthusiasm is genuine to the core...

I agree. I was flipping around the past few days and it was just bad. Marty was talking about some local foursome who won a best ball tourney and was going up to Minneapolis to play in another one. He spent the prior week talking about the golf benefit at A-P and kissing KF's rear. Miller and Brinson were talking MLB plus racing and hockey. TNT did have a good segment today on ISU, the scoreboard and the Register article on the new Big 12 schedule. But for the most part, I don't understand how these people don't get that most of the sportsfans in this state don't care about golf, racing, hockey, baseball. They care about:

    1. College Football
    2. College Basketball
    3. NFL

Everything else doesn't compare. I guess that's what Miller and Deace understood that for some reason, everyone else is failing to. Talk CFB. Period. I don't care if you are going over the SEC and Pac 12 since it's June.

You are correct. It was a cut above the rest.
I hate to bag on Murph and Andy because I do genuinely like them, as sportscasters they are second to none, but on their radio show their matra is "sports and more", and they spend a little too much time on the "more" for my liking.
They were showing CCL highlights and interviews for several nights in a row last week on the Ch 13 news. Yet not a peep on their radio show about it. If you put it in the newscast knowing people are interested, why not talk about it on the radio?? I'm not sure ive even heard them utter the words "Cap city league" on their radio show.
And miller and brinson, this time of year, not my cup of tea at all.
