A bridge over the Missouri River closed Monday and another will temporarily close Wednesday, leaving no river crossings open between Sioux City and Council Bluffs, officials said.
Iowa Highway 175, which connects Onawa with Decatur, Neb., was closed Monday west of Interstate Highway 29 because of erosion on the east abutment of the bridge, the Iowa Department of Transportation said.
And U.S. Highway 30 between Missouri Valley and Blair, Neb., will close Wednesday morning for at least two days.
During the U.S. 30 closure, workers will install a flood-control barrier intended to help keep the road open this summer as Missouri River flooding continues.
The closing is expected to start at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
