Black & Gold Iowa State Gear at Scheels (Fail)

Stopped into the Sioux City Scheels last night...this store has always offered a miserable selection of Cyclone gear.

However, the black and gold Iowa State University shirt they are now selling is an insult.

I thought I recall hearing that someone at ISU involved with merchandising actually has to approve each item...

    Will post a photo later.

I highly doubt that ISU merchandising approves each and every single item - if that were the case you'd never see black and gold ISU shirts (as it explicitly states in the University identity - not the athletic identity - that black is a color to be avoided). I once saw at Dick's in Davenport a black Under Armour shirt with a gold IOWA STATE across the front. I don't know which idiot bought that thing, but it certainly wasn't me.

The people who buy that crap don't know there are 2 state schools here.

For the sake of this argument, I'm leaving UNI out of the apparel discussion

This sounds about right for a business in Le Siouxer; try to sell something that no one will buy. Looking good SC Scheels, smart.

Also worth noting, their clearance rack includes at least 45 #3 Brandon Wegher tshirts.

I bought a black and grey hat. Kinda cool actually, it's nice to see gear that isn't too bright and obnoxious since they wont just make the blue hat they used to anymore. The one on lids doesn't fit your head right.
I will say though, the one in omaha got a much smaller section since NU joined the Big 10 and the hawks have about 4 times the merchandise. Sad...

Sounds perfect for those Hawkeye fans who claim they root for ISU whenever they aren't playing Iowa.

Smaller? How could it be any smaller? Last time I was there (about a year ago) there were like three different styles of t-shirts and maybe a couple sweatshirt racks hanging on the wall. Heck, the ratio of Longhorn gear to ISU gear was probably 10:1.

Re: Black & Gold Iowa State Gear at Scheels (Fail)

It wouldn't surprise me if Scheels did that at all. They have been know to make errors on stuff at the one in Coralville. Back in High School they printed Clear Creek Amana sweatshirts with the mascot being the Rockets. That mascot was used only by Amana and ended back in 1989...but yet in 2001 the Rockets lived!

Good times on Hawkeyenation.com after the 2010 Wisconsin Game!

I've noticed this too, even on our side of the river its getting tougher to find ISU stuff. There are only a couple places in Council Bluffs that you can find Cyclone gear. Oh and all the preseason football mags are stritctly the big 10 versions...yuck!

Ive sported the Green ISU shifts for a few years at the race track. Of course my cars are green and also had the old school logo on them too.
