    Summer Practices

Anyone around the Ames area hear how Summer workouts are going? Also how 7 on 7 is playing out (I assume it has started)-- especially the QB portion. I know these are closed, but when my brother was on the team, he would always give me the inside dish. I was wondering if anyone on here had some insider info. Just wanted something to feed the mid-Summer football fix.

    Thx in Advance!

His highlight video alone got me really excited for the future....the most impressive one out of this new freshmen class IMO.

I haven't seen him practice here, but I've been jacked about landing this guy. Glad hes doing well so far in practice.

AJ Klein had a workout at 5:30 today. Ricky Howard put up 415 bench press. Kurt Hammerschmidt downed 2 fajitas from the fajita man in less than 5 minutes.

    Re: Summer Practices

I think summer practices will be crucial for the band this year. They have some very good returning starters, but the new recruits will need to gain some experience. You can't show up when classes start and expect to know the playbook, you do have to get used to the system.

But overall, I think we have some preseason all-conference right guides, especially in the sax section. Really good hands, from what I hear from my summer intern's brother's nephew's friend, who is a very reliable source.

I'll bite on Richardson. Is he good enough to challenge for PT?

    Re: Summer Practices

rebecacy: That Sam Richardson is one piece of QB, I know from experience dude. If you know what I mean.
    terryk: No, you don't. Source???
rebecacy: Well, not me personally but a guy I know, Paul. He saw Richardson *get it on* at 7 on 7. Wooo-eee!
terryk: No, he didn't. That would be an NCAA violation.
rebecacy: No, no, no he didn't. But you could imagine what it'd be like if he did, right...? Everybody on, good, great, grand, wonderful.

I think he could "challenge" But being new is going to hurt him a lot. It hurt Jantz in the spring. If I was the coach I would go with the upperclassmen(Jantz or Tiller if he isn't ready). RS Sam, groom him and let him take over as a RS Sophomore. He has two years to learn the system and bulk up then three to start. Assuming he would win the job then. But obviously things can change from year to year.

I agree that Richardson should redshirt, especially with (according to CPR, at least publicly) three capable QBs in Jantz, Tiller, and Barnett already.
