Too bad about Keeler, but not too many tears will be shed for him on this site. Overall, I think he remained neutral, but it seemed like if he had a chance to take a shot at ISU he would.

Well, everybody is entitled to their opinion, but to be honest, this way of thinking is exactly why Mark Hansen once called ISU fans the greatest conspiracy theorists in sports (quite accurately too, I might add).

I agree. Keeler wasnt liked by many ISU fans because he didnt portray everything as this big happy fantasy.

I think he gave credit where credit was due. The problem was that ISU was due a whole lot of credit in MBB and FB and when he didnt sugar coat the fact that we were average at best it ****** some people off. In his situation writing with the intent to draw some controversy is smart because it keeps people engaged.

I will miss his writing because it was way more knowledgable than most other coverage of ISU.

“It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...”
    – columnist Sean Keeler, Des Moines Register

Gotta agree with Chris about Keeler.

You'd swear he committed human rights violations by the way some portray Keeler, when all he did was his job - and that meant sometimes being critical.

While I didn't always agree w/ Keeler's take, his column was always thought-provoking, and it's my understanding that is what a columnist is suppose to do. He was not a beat-writer.

I must agree about the BCB, I went one year and will never go to another one again. It is not well managed.

I also was at the BCB and second everyones comments so far. We were lucky enough miss out on the traffic, but I know a few people that had tickets and gave up on going after sitting in traffic.

As the night rolled on I could not wait to leave. Way to many drunk people there. I am all for a good time and enjoyed several beers myself, but this was just plain stupid. Also, is it not the concerts responsibility to stop serving people when they can no longer walk?

Someone also needs to explain to me the purpose of covering yourself in mud.

As soon as Dierks was finished we split.

It's really a waste of a good lineup of bands.

He was not a reporter, he was a columnist. If you read his stuff, and had a neutral reaction, then he wasn't doing his job.

You know one of the funniest things that really mark this fanbase is how mad they would get at Keeler, or a hawk fan saying something negative. Then, they turn around and say the same damn stuff when defending coaches. They did it with McCarney, and more recently with McDermott.

You would read the apologists willing to settle for the product they were given because the liked the coaches. Reading back in the archives, there was a guy named kg that was friends with chewey, and he even stated that coaches consider the Iowa State job career suicide, AND THERE WERE PEOPLE THAT AGREED WITH HIM. People were against firing mac the mediocre, and chewey because we couldn't get anyone better, because we are just little old Iowa State.

But, man, if THAT SAME SENTIMENT came from someone who roots for the hawks, or a columnist, then these same people act all indignant, and ready to fight.

Sorry for the rant, but that has never made any sense to me.
