    Brackins and the draft

Here’s something to speculate on. Had Brackins stayed for his senior year, playing one year in Fred’s system, and going into this years “weak” draft, where do you think he would have been taken?

Higher than 21st. I haven't been able to think anything else.

But there are still the bigger talents, so maybe 12-15. Without actually looking at the available guys, that sounds good.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Really hard to say. The NBA draft seems to penalize seniors for whatever reason. I don't know if they think it's safer to draft on young potential, or what.

I agree. The NBA draft seems to cut through the BS and draft purely on your potential/ceiling. In the NFL, you can really help yourself by having a great year before coming out in the draft. In the NBA, not so much.

Or, if he would have left a year earlier, he might have gone even higher in the draft. Either way, can't blame the guy...I'd leave to get paid quicker than he did!

You might have a false premise in thinking that he would have had a year in Fred's system. What if Brackins' decision to come back for his senior year led McDoormat to decide not to bolt for Omaha???

I'm glad everything worked out the way that it did.

    Re: Brackins and the draft

Craig Brackins was a great Cyclone and one of the best representatives of ISU athletics...
