Commercials that make ya go hmmm...

There's a large used car dealer in the CR area that ends all their ads with the announcer saying something similar to,"With all these great deals you MUST have a factory connection!"

I find myself wanting to shout at the radio,"THERE'S NO FACTORY FOR USED CARS!"

    (Is it football season yet?)

Haha is it Westdale Used Auto, or something similar? I think I know exactly what you are talking about. Last summer in the warehouse I worked at they kept airing those on the radio station that my co-worker listened to and I remember thinking how annoying they were.

Does the announcer ask the salesmen "you MUST have a factory connection!?" and then the salesmen responds "ahh, you know I can't tell you that!"

So ridiculous, I can't believe that anyone would buy it...

There's one here that goes "Family owned for 30 years, owners George and Nancy Wilson know that you will get only the best quality siding and workmanship from Westside Roof and Siding."

So the family owns George and Nancy Wilson, apparently.

Actually, the first part is just a fragment without a subject and the two clauses should be joined with a semicolon instead of a comma. The rest of the sentence is correct.

See how many times you can go back to the 7 second mark without smiling.

But seriously, everything is pretty normal in this commercial until...well, just watch it.

What English grammar book did you get that out of? That is TOTALLY incorrect.

If the word "owners" wasn't before George and Nancy, there would be some confusion. However, it's there, and in no way should their be any confusion as to who they are.

Well, you're right. There is no question who they are. The question is who is family owned. Seriously, you can't be arguing with me about this. This is an example of a well-known grammatical error -- a misplaced modifier.

It's just like writing "After being rushed to surgery, the doctor removed the victim's spleen." Who is being rushed to surgery there? It's a grammatically incorrect sentence.

And I don't know WHERE you came up with the notion that a semicolon is required in the original sentence. It's not.
