To be honest, with all the transfers going on these days, there needs to be something signed by the player that prohibits this. SDSU has been recruiting as if they already had this guy and this would **** me off. The school needs some sort of protection.

That would be an LOI, which he had not signed.

This actually has to do with transfers, who don't have LOIs to sign. This would be the equivalent of Clyburn or Lucious just going to Kansas instead of showing up to the CCL. Except they would have had to be committed for 8 months. I'd be ******.

I know, because he wasn't required to as a transfer. Therin lies the problem I was describing.

It doesn't seem right that the financial aid agreement binds the school to the player, but not the player to the school.

Transfers usually sign financial aid agreements which may or may not be binding. Not sure if this kid had signed one with SDSU.

This also shows how desperate KU is for players next season.

    In the story...

He signed them which binds the school but not the player. Completely unfair, imho.

Re: Steve Fisher Not Happy with KU or Self

Agreed... The school is essentially saying we give you money regardless of your play on the court/field and basically prohibits them from getting rid of you if they find a better player to take that position. However, if a 'better team' comes calling you can go about your free will and just up and leave... Transfers should have to sign something equivalent to a LOI...

Coach Self sets the record straight.

    "
“I don’t blame coach Fisher for being disappointed at all because Kevin did commit to them,” Self said, “but Kevin also told them he wasn’t going to San Diego State before we recruited him, so we didn’t steal him from San Diego State by any stretch.
“We would not have recruited Kevin if he was committed to San Diego State. He did de-commit from them before we pursued him at all. We did not recruit him until after he de-committed,” KU’s coach stressed."

I find that very difficult to believe, KU got desperate after losing out on some other recruits this spring and initiated contact with guys like Young.

I wonder what kind of job KU offered his dad.

Didnt sound like Steve Fischer knew he had decommited. And I think the rotating position of Director of Basketball operations of whatever it was Mario Chalmers father was, is likely now with this kid's uncle or AAU coach.

My favorite KU "spoils" moment was when the Collison family moved down to Lawerence on a whim, and contractor Daddy somehow won bids for campus work.
