Rambis and Kahn to discuss future

I was on the ESPN T'Wolves message board and saw a thread that discussed Kurt Rambis' possibility of being fired (PLEASE BE TRUE!!!). Someone posted some updates.

UPDATE: David Kahn and Kurt Rambis will meet soon, according to Tom Powers of the Pioneer Press, and he is expected to be fired.

Powers writes: "I don't know the exact date for the Kahn-Rambis meeting, just that there definitely is one scheduled and that it's coming up pretty quickly. Kahn should be careful about the timing of the dismissal, however. It's probably a good idea to first get all the I's dotted and T's crossed on Ricky Rubio's contract. The way the NBA works today, Rubio's agent, Dan Fegan, a pushy type, might try to get involved in the hiring process if he sees an opening. You know, to protect Ricky's interests."

There has been some talk that Dallas assistant and former Wolves head coach Dwane Casey will be the frontrunner after Rambis is let go by Kahn.

UPDATE No. 2: Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune reports Rambis and David Kahn have finally met to discuss Rambis' future with the team. They are also going to chat again on Friday.

Rambis did attend the draft workouts on Thursday, along with owner Glen Taylor.

Now that all three are together there is a chance Rambis will learn his fate before the end of the weekend.

This too. If they get Casey as a coach and ca nget pieces they need by trading or drafting they can have a team that can compete to get in the playoffs.

I don't think Casey is coming back to the Wolves although stranger things have happened in the world of sports.

As much as Rambis being responsible for the result, Kahn should shoulder the blame too with his constant roster changes without proven leader.

Minnesota could actually be a fun team to watch next year. Rubio, Love, Beasley, Johnson, and Kanter or Williams. That team would get killed on defense, but they could certainly push the ball and put up some points.

Lots of trade rumors with the T'wolves. I have heard names like Gasol, Bogut, Gortat. Lots of names being thrown around by NBA writers.

What's the Gortat deal? I assume Phoenix wants Williams with the number two pick in return, are there other players being mentioned along with that? I really like Gortat, he'd be a good compliment to Love.

I don't know exactly but it is possible it could be Gortat, Nash, and the 13th for the 2nd and somehing else.

Re: Rambis and Kahn to discuss future

My patience with the T-Wolves is wearing very thin. Kahn has to be the worst GM in the league.

And now there are reports of a possible deal with the Lakers, where the T-Wolves get Pau Gasol, but give up the #2 pick, Kevin Love, and someone else. Just shoot me dead right now if Kahn pulls the trigger on that deal.

Kevin Love is a future star in this league. Plus, the #2 pick could be VERY good too.... probably better than Gasol IMO. Kanter and Williams might both be as good or better than Gasol. Combine Kanter or Williams with Love, and then you're also adding Rubio too. Not a bad off season IMO.

Can you imagine a team with Rubio AND Pau Gasol? I don't know if you could find two "softer" players to put on one team. Love provides some toughness, and so would Kanter and Williams.

What do the Wolves have to show for the Garnett deal anymore? Basically nothing, correct? Kahn is terrible. When you have 2 picks in the top 7 or whatever it was, and you take 2 point guards (one which you knew wouldn't even show up), that's just stupid. My 13 year old son wouldn't be that dumb. I was screaming at the time to take Flynn and then Steph Curry. So were most people. But then Kahn goes with Flynn and Rubio.

PLEASE someone tell me he isn't going to pull the trigger on the Pau Gasol deal!!!!

I think the Wolves will be very busy on draft night. I expect them to trade the 2nd pick especially if Irving goes 1. I think you may also see Flynn traded as rumours have Toronto, LAL and NYK all having some interest.

Re: Rambis and Kahn to discuss future

The fact that they want to trade K-Love is uncomprehensable...This makes about as much sense as the Bulls trading Michael Jordan to the Blazers 8 years later...
