    Re: EVO 3D June 24th

We are switching over from Verizon to Sprint because Verizon admitted straight up they can't give me the price Sprint does.

That being said, we're looking at either the Evo or the Nexus. What do people think of these phones?

The Nexus S is better than the Evo. Having the latest version of Android and vanilla Android is the best experience. NFC is going to be nice.

I agree the Nexus is nice because it's pure android, and you're always first in line for new updates. But the Evo 3D blows the Nexus away in terms of specs. I'm not sure how that will translate into user experience, but it sure sounds like fun! Some people like HTC's Sense UI as well instead of stock android.

The Evo 3D will have a great development community, if you're into that sort of thing...

My EVO has Android 2.3 on it. Just got the update a little over a week ago.
I have never had good luck with Samsung phones they have all had reception issues. Iike my EVO but my camera lens is all scratched up and not to mention it is only $50. For new 2 year contract price is $200

Yeah you got 2.3.3 (the version with battery issues) meanwhile the Nexus S has had 2.3.4 for several months. Whenever whatever next comes out the Nexus S will have it right away and you'll be waiting 6 months to forever.

And this is why I root my EVO. I can get the updates as soon as they come out. I have played with the Nexus and like it, but the online community for the EVO is MUCH larger. Therefore IMO, there are better kernels and senses out there for the EVO. +1 for the Gold Members getting the 3D for only $50!

I root also, but rooting has nothing to do with updates like that... Rooting doesn't get you from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 or get you updates any sooner.

XDA has excellent support for both phones.

Personally I'd wait for the Galaxy S2 or Sensation. The Sensation is HTC also, but better than the EVO.

According to HTC's site the Sensation is a GSM phone so I doubt that is something sprint will get. The Galaxy S2 will be Samsung so that rules that phone out for me from the gate. So I will be sticking with the EVO 3D

The Sensations base phone is the Pyramid (I think) and it will have some CDMA variant.

I had a Galaxy S. It was pure junk. I wasn't ever going to get another Samsung phone. I got an S2 a month ago (for Europe). It's the best Android phone available right now. Samsung did a really good job opening it up also. It was by far the easiest phone to root. Samsung has updated it several times already. 2.3.4 is close.

Hmmm...I'm a premier gold level, so I wonder if they'll give me the $50 trade deal for my HTC Mogul

I'd really like to get an Android phone, but I need a WMWiFiRouter app for Android, and from what I can tell, that isn't quite available yet. WMWiFiRouter shares the phone's Internet connection via WiFi, USB, BlueTooth to multiple users. And I really don't want to have to root the phone to get this capability.

I too prefer HTC equipment. The GPS went out on my wife's EVO Shift. We exchanged it for a new EVO Shift. About a month later, an HTC rep called my wife and asked about return and defect, if we were happy with the return process, to see if she was satisfied with the phone, what new features she would like to see. I don't know if other phone vendors do that, but I thought that was kind of neat.

My EVO has the WiFi program and the new one does too. But unless you root your phone it is not free. You can usb tether for free.

The $150 discount is a Sprint buy back program it is not just for the EVO 3d release

the sprint buy back is 'up to $150', and my evo is in pretty rough shape
