KU loses last remaining top target to UConn

    #10 overall recruit DeAndre Daniels.

They missed on a couple of high profile targets (Lacey/Alabama & Daniels/UConn) they usually seem to sign. Their 2011 class is currently ranked 29th. By the way, check out what Lavin is doing at St. John's.

Bill Self hopes for late additions to KUís recruiting class - KansasCity.com

Lavin will be the Scott Drew of the East coast. Great players on bad teams.

I can't believe our resident KU apologist hasn't piped up yet. Somebody light the beacon so that he comes to our rescue in a hurry.

Dare I say that Baylor has the most talent in the conference?

This thing will be WIDE open. Texas has a stud PG and future lottery pick in Myck Kabango, but lost pretty much everything off last year's squad.

Mizzou and A&M have a bunch back, but new coaches. No idea how this thing will play out.

My bears need our new blood at point guard to show up and then we can say stuff like that. Until someone proves themselves we are an indy car with no steering wheel.

I think you folks are off in your assessment of Lavin. St. Johns is going to be a contender in the Big East and making runs in the NCAA as long as he is there.

As for the Kansas news, I'm really enjoying that they've whiffed on these guys! They will still be strong, but it's fun to see them sweat a bit.

Lacey was the bigger need in my opinion. Daniels seems like a head case and might have done more damage than good.

Next year in the big 12 should be pretty competitive, especially with everyone playing each other twice.

Re: KU loses last remaining top target to UConn

Lavin has a pretty good assistant in Gene Keady - i'd argue he's trying to learn from his UCLA mistakes. We'll see how it shakes out.

B12 offseason went pretty well from an isu perspective.

The most talented team has a mediocre coach (Baylor), the most experience returning has new coaches (Mizz/A&M), the studs of the league had huge nba losses and average (by their standards) replacements (TX/KU), KSU lost their best assistant and "reloads" mostly with jucos, and we bring in our most talented players in a decade. Only "negatives" would be that OSU has an nba lottery pick recruit, and OU/TTech made big coaching upgrades.

Should be a fun year (finally).

While this is true, Baylor still has the most talent in the Big 12.

I would absolutely love it if Kansas took a backseat for even 2-3 years and wasn't a contender for the B12 and National title. I can dream I guess, but they will still be in the discussion, even this year. Look at 09.

What's funny about KU is that in addition to losing Lacey and Daniels, their only commitment for the 2012 class, Zach Peters, has quit playing AAU hoops this summer to focus on football.

I agree with Blum that the B12 is really wide open next season. Baylor has the most talent on paper with a good pool of PG options next season in Heslip, Franklin, Jackson, and Walton. If they find a solid PG from that crew, they could be very good even with Drew coaching them.

Having a national contender in our league is valuable, in more ways than one. I just would like to return to the days of us beating them. :-)

Beating Kansas is my favorite Cyclone tradition.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
