    Bubba Starling

Just drafted by the Royals 5th overall. What does everyone think about him still going to Nebraska or do you think he still signs with the hometown team and plays baseball. Or does anyone care because Nebraska isn't a conference foe anymore.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

    1) I hear he's going baseball.
    2) Who cares?

I think he'll sign. He lives 10 minutes south of KC and rumors are he could receive a signing bonus of $5 million+. Dayton Moore has signed all of their first round picks so far as the general manager and will most likely give in to Boras so they don't have to deal with losing another hometown player (see: Albert Pujols).

He's reportedly the future at QB for the Huskers, so if he signs with KC, it'll make it that much more awesome.

Oh heck yeah! I was hoping for Starling. He'd be stupid not to play baseball (first)...unless of course, he really likes football...and is rich already.

Failing at baseball and playing football is a much better option than failing at football than trying to play baseball. See Pat White. I guess he didn't really fail, but you he didn't get paid.

    Re: Bubba Starling

As many top-5 picks the Royals have had the last 20 years one would think they could finish above 0.500 once in a while.

He'll sign with the Royals, he can be a great baseball player and he'll get a hefty signing bonus... and its not like Nebraska QBs go pro.

Na. He is the Tate Forcier to Jamal Turner's Denard Robinson. Turner will be a stud.

Not when they can't hit a barn that makes its way over the plate, like Gordon his first 3 years.

Or if they are a full-time DH that only hits singles and doubles with nobody on, but then grounds into inning-ending double plays with people on, like Billy Butler...

Family isn't. His HS baseball coach wife is one of my dads secretaries and the family isn't that well off. They are saying all the right things as far as Nebraska is concerned but he would be stupid to turn down 5+ mill.

In all honesty, The Royals wanted one of the college pitchers, but all went off the board before they picked.

I was hoping he'd fall to the Cubs but I'm satisfied with Baez.
