    Adventure Time

Anyone catch this show on Cartoon Network? I started recording it on the advice of a friend and have been very surprised at how good it is.

It's bizarre and full of non-sequiturs, so if you're looking for coherence, you probably won't find it. It's the story of a young boy, Finn, and his magical pet dog, Jake, and their adventures in the mysterious land of Ooo, which is hinted to be a post apocalyptic version of earth, although it's not officially said. The duo lives in a tree fort and the plot is based around their adventures in the realm.

Basically, it's one of those shows that a parent can watch with their child and the child appreciates it one one level, but the parent gets it on a whole different level. Some of the dialogue is just bizarre, but still gets me laughing.

It's definitely not a show for everyone. The art style is weird, and the stories don't always make sense, but it definitely has a following. Plus, John DiMaggio plays the voice of Jake, and he is not capable of being unfunny. It's worth checking out.

Adventure Time and Regular Show are both pretty good shows on CN.

    Thread bump...

My kids started watching this over their summer break...when I first saw it, I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. But when you start watching it regularly, it grows on you. Definitely bizarre.

I want to try watching it drunk sometime...I bet it's really awesome then. I'll do that with my kids and try for Parent of the Year.

To each his own, but I don't let my kids watch that show. I don't think they are missing out on anything.

yeah, me too. It's bizarre, but funny.

I've become a big fan of adventure time and agree that it's not really for kids. It's more for adults.

Now, now....don't put me in a box. My kids have a full arsenal of toy weapons, and enjoy candy like every kid. However, they get, maybe 60 minutes of "screen time" a day, and this is not one of the shows on the list as acceptable to watch. They typical spend this time on the Wii or computer anyway.

If you want to get stereotypical, we can go there.
