    Re: Fantasy football - trades

Hackett, imo, would be a big loss. you seem short on RB's, if you can trade a 2nd tier WR for a 2nd tier back go for it.

drop smith and see about picking up Garrard, while not a show stopper, he is a step up from Smith... and could be worth a big trade in 2-3 weeks.

I would say no to this offer.

My personal preference is generally wait atleast for the first week to go by, and then check out the waiver wires before I even attempt trading

other way around .. I get Smith

Garrard is long gone -16 player league with 3 qb roster spots makes for 48 QBs on rosters already.

I think Henry's going to be big this year. I think I'd take it.

    Re: Fantasy football - trades

I would pass in a heartbeat. You already have a starting QB so Smith does nothing for you. Colston is world's better than Hackett (in terms of fantasy anyway) and Brown/Henry is a wash when you consider Henry's injury concerns, Shanahan's system of having multiple players carry the ball and the fact that Ronnie Brown is going to be playing in the same offense that LaDanian Tomlinson played in last year. If you agree to this, you are getting fleeced imo.

    Re: Fantasy football - trades

brown has let me down each of the last 2 years and i think henry is going to have a huge year. hackett could become the #1 target in seattle due to the departure of darrell jackson. also, colston will see a lot more double coverages and his numbers dipped toward the end of last year-had a hammy injury plus more coverage-i think he is due for a sophomore slump. smith would be a decent backup qb as it looks like you are weak there right now. i would be jumping all over this if i were you.

Travis Henry is going to have a pro bowl year. Brown plays on a crappy team and will get hurt again, because he is soft. DO THE DEAL.

    Re: Fantasy football - trades

Unfortunately this deal was only extended in conversation, the owner wants to "wait until Friday" to put something in the works - meaning he wants to see Colston in action first.

If Colston can put up a good night it may still go, if not this thing seems dead.

Thanks for all the input though

No way. Colston to Hackett is a major set back. Henry is better than Ronnie, but not for the price of losing Colston. Alex Smith is worthless to you since you have 3 Other QB's. You might as well drop Leftwich too since he got cut.

Can't agree more. No reason to rush into a trade before the season startss as you have no idea how anybody is going to perform. Wait at minimum 2 weeks to see how your team is doing and what its real needs are before you start trading.

I think Henry will be great... but losing Colston for Hacket wastes your receiver spot... where as Ronnie Brown shouldn't be that far behind Henry this year enough to make it worth the trade.

That's a tough one, Jer, but I think I'd pull the trigger if I was you, with rationale as follows.

    1) Ronnie now appears to be in a RBBC situation with Jesse Chapman and Miami's o-line stinks anyway. Assuming Travis Henry can get / stay healthy, he should be "the man" in Denver.

    2) Colston scares me a little bit with the sophomore jinx that seems to beset WR's, plus the fact there are too many mouths to feed in NO. You've got two other #1 WR's (their respective teams) on your roster in Cotchery and Jerry Porter.

In short, I think your "net" by starting T. Henry / Cotchery might be better than R. Brown / Colston. My gut is that Cotchery surprises some people this year and Colston disappoints those who drafted him too high. If CPep returns to any semblance of MN form, Jerry Porter could return to WR gold. Only time will tell...

    3) You'll need a second starting QB at some point, be it a single bye week or god forbid, Palmer were to go down. Getting Alex Smith would be icing on your cake.

Do it if he's still willing after week one...JMHO
