    Best Tailgate Stories

With all this football talk what is everyone's best tailgate story/setup in Ames.

Mine would be 05. We partied in a tent in the south end zone that was 30 bucks to get in and had all the beer you could drink and all you can eat food. They also had the game on TV so I sold my tickets and stayed in the tent and then taunted hawk fans as they left JTS. Then broke my finger keeping a stray ball away from a group of girls I was drunkenly hitting on.

    Re: Best Tailgate Stories

Kansas State game in 2005 fell on my 23rd birthday and my friends made it their mission to get me super drunk on all kinds of different things. Climbed on top of our bus and fell clean off, landed on my back without a scratch and rallied. That was followed by my brother sneaking 18 busch lights into JTS in his Carhart coat.

Not my smartest day on record but a good *** time!

Wasn't it soon after that they banned us from tailgating on the decks on top of our busses? Coincidence?

Lots of memories, as every tailgate at JT is a blast!
But, the '05 Colorado (tornado game) and '05 Iowa game are tough to beat!

    Re: Best Tailgate Stories

Every game at the NW corner of D3 with the CyBeast crew. The menu changes every week. There is tequila and beer and the neighbors that surround this tailgate all contribute to a fantastic game day every weekend! Two great memories to share...

    1. We played Texas at home a couple of years ago. 5 Texas students show up in a suburban. They are alone and we invite them over. they have a great time. Move ahead to last fall. Texas Tech home game. Bunch of TTech fans show up. One guy says his cousin partied with the CyBeast crew and said it was the best tailgate in the Big 12 and to stop by. We def showed them a good time.

    2. UNLV game in Vegas. Have a buddy there that told all his friends we really knew how to throw a tailgate. We threw one dandy tailgate for them. They enjoyed it so much they have now chosen a weekend for the past two years (and already have plans to be here for the Iowa game this year) in which these UNLV fans fly to Iowa just to come up and tailgate with the CyBeast crew and go to an ISU game.

    Re: Best Tailgate Stories

05 Colorado game, I was drunkinly trying to get w/ my friends sister and or his fiance sister the whole day which was lolsy in itself had to be there. When the cops came and said to get out of the lot and go to Hilton or home, I decided it was a trap to get me to drive so I hid under my pickup thinking that was a safe place to be. Also, somebody stole my cooler and my Cyclone magnet off my car, only time thats ever happend at JTS. Also when Curvey (right?) got that pick I jumped up and screamed so loud I litterally pooped myself. I little rabbit turd fell right out but nobody knew.

Last ISU Iowa home game, we grilled 98 lbs of chicken wings and I was hitting on this lady big time, like being a super creep and nearly put on the rapecape. She turned out to be the HR manager for the company I started at the following Monday.

    Re: Best Tailgate Stories

Any tailgate before the state smoking ban - I always smoked a good cigar and miss that. I have broken the rules since, but got rude comments and stares from people 4 cars over...

    Outside of that:
1.) college days in the south lots, where the guys on my floor camped out and setup 3-4 couches to reserve a good area every game. Had goal posts to kick empties through. Hung out with my future wife there and protected her from "shaved chest guy"
2.) I'll join the 05 Colorado party. We didn't really tailgate, but huddling in Hilton and then taking it to the Buffs was incredible!

2005 I was drunk as hell for every tailgate and hardly remember a thing...not sure what game it was during the 2007 season but seeing my buddy get his arm run over by the police golf cart is my favorite memory...the cops just looked back and kept going as if nothing happened

    Re: Best Tailgate Stories

Hey, whadda you know? ANOTHER 2005 story here.

My roommate at the time had this incredibly annoying older brother who came down for a few games here and there. Well, it was the KSU game that year, which was kind of a cold, rainy, ****** day. We got to the lots 7 hrs before kick, and got a pretty decent spot. The dudes next to us had a great beer pong table, and they invited us to play with them, as we did throughout the day.

Well, this kid was one of those idiots that you could pretty much make consume whatever alcohol was around, because he thought he was a bad *** if he downed a bunch of booze and puked all over himself. While we're playing pong, we somehow convinced the other guys to let us fill the whole middle cup with Hawkeye Vodka and call it the "Danger Cup". Whenever someone hit the Danger Cup, annoying brother had to drink it.

So the day progresses, and shortly before he has to pound his 3rd Danger Cup of the day, he asks us where the ticket office (he had no ticket). We give him directions. He pounds the Danger Cup, then stumbles to the wooden fence along Elwood, basically flops over it, wipes himself off and cackles as he walks away. This is about 2 hrs before kick off. We're all relieved to be rid of him, and basically forget he was even there.

Well, a couple hours later we go to the game, pound Grandpa Snyder, and then head home. Everyone has completely forgot that this kid was even with us to begin with. We're getting ready to go out, and my roommate turns his phone back on (turned it off way before the game to save battery). 8 new voice mails. His brother was in Nevada (in jail of course). He hadn't even made it to the ticket office, but had rather apparently crashed (literally) into some wealthy donor's tailgate set up in the S lots, puked all over their spread, and just passed out on the asphalt while they waited for the cops to the come.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

    Re: Best Tailgate Stories

I love it when Pancheros brings burritos to the student lots! I'm no longer a student but I still try to get my hands on a free burrito.

Also, two years ago Iowa game. We were tailgating way too early in the morning. My buddies rented a Uhaul to tailgate out of (Good idea btw). They rented a speaker system from the university. They used the ramp out of the back of the Uhaul as a catwalk stood up by a trashcan. The dude that does the sideline stuff for FSN came over and taped his pregame promo there. He jumped off the catwalk into a bunch of people but everybody dropped him. It was awesome.
